oh really ? so at least they are still running iffices in Munich and Duesseldorf ... - don't get why the Chinese are buying european companies when the hardware is anyway manufactured in China ...
can't be all just about the brand?!

Re: Gigaset

It is 70-90% because of brand name.
Rest is because of keeping a few German/European design engineers ...

Re: Gigaset

Why would anyone pay for a brand name no one has ever heard about, like Gigaset? Can they not make up a dozen similar names for free?

Re: Gigaset

They could but have no idea about [to choose and build up a brand name, design devices, engineer technology/patents, ...??? ;)]. But money can buy 'everything'. And we are gonna loose, because of profit ...

Gigaset is/was owned by Siemens and was their brand for tele-communication (devices definitely, or also network technology, not sure about). And was a good brand.

Examples (building up a brand):
- M$ buying Nokia brand name
- the Sailors
Make your own conclusions :D

Anybody that deals with IP phones is going to know that name, it's a quality brand.

Re: Gigaset

So, the european part is a german engineer sending an email to a chinese factory that has the specs, which they can afford to have on a retail product while maintaining the required profit margin?

On the positive side, european colonialism has finally ended. The chinese are building biofuel factories in Europe. In other words, they are taking local raw materials on the cheap and turning them into added value products for their home market. Our old racket.

It was a fine run for half a millenia. We took over everything. The places not worth taking over, well we just pissed in their corners, mostly out of spite. Then, after several centuries, we set everything on fire. We did it a few times actually. Then the americans, our bastard children -nope, our glorious bastard chíldren-, came along and started taking care of the whole pissing in corners thing. Like nice kids, they also took care of us. But now they are past their prime as well and we are just dementic degenerates.

Never mind.
It's late and I'm drunk.
Propably an awesome phone.
Get one- or better yet, get two.
