Help nieldk
I make this thread, just because one of our worthy community members is in trouble and I think that not many people will notice that, because all is said in a [for sale] thread.
Just have a look: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...1&goto=newpost |

Re: Help nieldk
In NeilDK's signature. Or his member's page. It's difficult to miss.

I second nieldk should be helped,
do u have some time to dedicate for paid development works or maybe looking for a decently paid job ? This community told you, you are needed, now tell #maemo what you need |

But of course I don't know how much time Niel has for such things. it would be really a good thing, if he tell us how we can help him, besides the donations. |

So, I wont ask for donation for development for my situation. This has already been contributed to quite fair, so of course, I will continue to do what I have done so far, including helping where i can. |
Re: Help nieldk
@Niel If it works the way I described, I wouldn't see that as a donation, but payment for a job done. The other things are things you develop on your own and the community decides, if these things are important enough, to consider a donation.

It would be great to find an honorable way to combine donation and "feature bounty" imho. I would donate 10€ only for sysbench compiled for x86 tablet. Rather tiresome to do this with current tmo forum means. Also most devs do not like donations because they feel some pressure attached? Hmmm, i as a user am mostly too shy to bother them with my puny requests and cause unpaid "work"... The snake of "no progress" bites its tail. Maybe we need a "together.maemo.org" with clear rules and rough algorithm: You add your feature/app request and donation amount as new "thread". Others can join your cause with extra money. Devs look around and maybe start to solve some of the requests. They can lock requests to them for a week or negotiated timeframe so no unnecesary competition arises while they are coding. Donation is sent to a dev claiming to have solved a request after a voting among thread/request participants for payment or an aditional week of locking the request to one dev. They could also play the other way around and ask for "funding" of an idea. Edit, late donation sent, sorry to hear nieldk. Breaks my heart that a diligent guy like you can get into money troubles. This world really sucks sometimes... |
Re: Help nieldk
I am overwhelmed by the support iam getting here
Sysbench, I can probably do that. Will look at it for you. |
Re: Help nieldk
Hi Niel, the offer for score-board is obsolete. dcaliste contacted me and will fix the bug. He hasn't read the comments in the official Jolla store, so he didn't know that there is a bug at all.
But if this is a way we can support you, please let us know. I have for sure other things which I would be happy to pay for. @all i think what mosen suggested is a very nice idea. Maybe we should make a poll for that? |
