Don't think that changing OS version would make a noticeable impact on the battery life. Probably it just needs to be replaced. Mine holds charge just fine with OS2008...

For me it moslty works, but occassionally there are some mails it would not show content for. I reverted to the excellent fastmail webmail interface actually...

Here's another one using Fastmail service...and I've got the same problem as well. Not really a complete IMAP implementation here....or hopefully there is a hidden setting that may save us.

I tried moultiple reboots...maybe it is cachng this information somewhere? I can even install Devicescape if I try it.

For what it's worth, I have successfully flashed my N800 using 770flasher on OS X...after I realized that I need to turn on N800 while holding the Home button down. I was using 10.4 at a time though.

Usually people need maps not to view the street they live on because most do know where they live. If you just need to view the street you live on, the map might be much smaller.

I don't think N8x0 is made for such tasks anyway. It is an "Internet Tablet" after all. I mean, at some point you will be able to run some office apps, but I'm pretty sure it will not be a pleasant...
