Neither, I'm just trying to use it as mass storage.

I have tried the nokia PC suit though, but the same issue persists. It's like the phone refuses to connect to the PC unless it's turned on...

Yes, that is the case... though if I go through the procedure I noted above, I can get it to connect as mass storage.

This isn't about charging, it's about accessing my data. It doesn't matter if YOU don't find it a problem, matey :) It's really frustrating for me, when I want to copy some mp3s across or whatever...
