Only in the premium (paid-for) version AFAIK. Google Mail provides free email with POP and IMAP (and useful extras like calendar and documents too).

If you are not forced to use a USB or BT link you could use a USB wireless dongle to create an ad-hoc network between your pc and tablet, then bridge the networks in XP.

Seems quite reasonable. Take a look at the RN-41 BT module, it has a built in antenna and is cheaper at digikey. I haven't looked at the datasheet but they claim a 30mA power draw when transmitting,...
