Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!
Maybe because it is intentional, at least in part? Microsoft doesn't want or need a new market segment that is a competitor for Windows+Office. If they can dominate this new market segment like they...

Re: Tizen?
That is patently false. There's a metric buttload of Qt software running on Windows, and for most of it you wouldn't even have a clue that it uses Qt.
There are probably more Qt applications...

Re: Tizen?
Honestly, let me tell you something: I don't care one whit what's 'better for mobile purposes'. I care for what's better for me.
And Linux-with-Qt-required is not at all something I want or care...

Re: Tizen?
That depends.
The most annoying and wrong-headed thing about MeeGo is their promotion of Qt as the preferred (and sometimes 'required') native toolkit.
Linux-with-Qt-required isn't Linux, it's...

That is some incredibly r3tarded troll logic you're showing here.
I.e., let me rephrase: "I can't buy good steak at the supermarket anymore, so to spite the damned argibusiness I will from now on...

Sounds like that's exactly what it is...
I don't know why they chose to have yet another rebranding, though.

Here's a quote from the official Intel statement:

Re: Nokia wants new CEO: Report
Yes, it's counterintuitive, but that's been the Microsoft Way since forever.
Remember that Microsoft isn't here to make money. Out of hundreds of Microsoft divisions, only two actually turn a...

Re: Nokia wants new CEO: Report
Yeah, and that option is to be eventually bought by Microsoft, as a future MS Mobile Phone Division, delivering Windows Phone 10.5 'It will definitely work for sure this time around' edition.

Re: Nokia wants new CEO: Report
gerbick, you're arguing with a marketing shill. Don't bother.
It's painfully obvious the guy just copy-pasted some drivel from some marketing handbook. (I mean, come on! 'Restructured the company,...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?
People who 'want to get work done' aren't buying tablets.
Tablets are a toy and a ridiculous fad. Which is why the iPad is the only tablet that successfully sells -- it's a beautiful toy gadget...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?
Reverting from MeeGo to Windows is a bad decision. Windows Phone is dead, and Nokia is dead with it.
Microsoft doesn't care -- in two years they will abandon the current incarnation of Windows...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?
No, it means something else entirely.
The only hardware manufacturer who is interested in openness is Intel, but as of 2011 there isn't an Intel CPU or SoC that is good enough for tablets.
ARM...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?
In 2011, here and today, for playing back movies you need a decent GPU with DSP, and the only way to make use of the GPU/DSP is via a proprietary binary blob.
End of story, there is nothing to...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?
Good lord, that is my point.
MeeGo is governed in pretty much exactly the same way that Ubuntu is governed.
Either you can call both open-source, or you can call both closed-source.
Claiming...
