Re: N900 : Flash and... Fail ?
The problem you had is that you flashed an old firmware image (PR1.1 I think). With one of the updates (PR1.2) Nokia updated the cell modem firmware which meant if you tried to run a old version the...

Re: BASH script bug?, simple maths...
That point hadn't passed me by, but I also noted the error message was from Busybox's Ash shell as Bash gives a slightly different error. But I agree, there's no need for the facepalm, it was a...

Re: Mediaplayer error. Need Help!!!
I don't watch videos with mediaplayer so haven't come across this problem, but try running "killall mafw-dbus-wrapper" in the Terminal, this will kill some of the backend processes mediaplayer uses,...

Re: How Many Will Keep their N900 until it dies
It's good that it doesn't affect everyone then. Maybe there are some models that aren't susceptible to this issue. If you're being paranoid, I have a theory that these spots are caused by excessive...

Re: How Many Will Keep their N900 until it dies
If you have a mostly white screen (e.g. a web page with a white background) you may notice bright spots in the display. All three of my N900s have this issue to a greater or lesser extent, are there...

Re: qltirreco
Pierogi is not as flexible currently, but it is a lot easier to set up and has a better UI, it also stores all the codes locally, which means if you want to add a new device you don't need to go...

Re: Nokia on the brink of failure
I don't know about that. He has been getting some pretty prime responses as far as I can see. Just consider how much shorter this thread would be without Lumiaman's input, that's his handiwork, he...

Re: Nokia on the brink of failure
Qgil, Lumiaman is a troll. Creating arguments here clearly amuses him, that's why he post provocative comments here, not because he wants to promote Lumia devices.
Now everyone, please stop...

Re: A Better Camera
There must be a "rmmod bc_cat" line in the /var/lib/dpkg/info/abettercamera.prerm script. Either edit the script to remove that line or modprobe the bc_cat module so rmmod has something to remove...

Re: Nokia on the brink of failure
This is tantamount to an endorsement of Lumiaman's behaviour here, and as you are a representative of Nokia I don't think it is appropriate, and certainly doesn't make Nokia look good. He is trolling...

Re: just drop it :(
I can't see how dropping the phone would damage the cable. Just look for any signs of damage of it, disconnect the connectors and put them back together to make sure they are together properly. While...

Re: just drop it :(
My guess is that you need a new display. But it is quite easy to dismantle the N900 if you have the right screwdriver (here is a blog with a link to the disassembly service manual...

Re: any chances on porting cut the rope !
It works on NITDroid, but it is a bit laggy and there was a point I couldn't get past because of it. Multitouch might help, but isn't essential, at least for the early levels.
