Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Give mcip a try first. mcip-nt1 is quite different (the main difference being it supports the hardware keyboard) and probably has more rough edges.

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

The quick fix would be running this as root:
/usr/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 > /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Wow! Thanks for all the hard work. I'll give the new version a try.

Using Ctrl + Space for input method switching would be more familiar for many, considering it's almost the de facto standard.

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Perhaps some prefer smaller keys to reduce finger travel distance? (Especially true for the swipe to select modes...)

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Strictly speaking, in its current form I would call it a QWERTY keyboard with built-in Chinese pinyin input method. :p

I suppose the portrait mode (and T9 which the author previously built) will...

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

I'm actually starting to love it. Hardware keyboard input could be faster but I don't type Chinese much on my N900 so this is a more than reasonable solution for my needs.

On another note if you...

Sorry. Didn't get the notification for some reasons.
Anyway, I don't have any technical background in electronics/electrical components so there's no way for me to know if something's broken unless...

Lightbulb Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Just to give some feedback...

Pros:

The symbol virtual keyboard is left intact

Cons:

Does not coexist with the system's default virtual keyboard

Re: How tracker works

LowMemoryMode=true seems to cause the reindexing ETA not to display.

Can anyone confirm this?

Re: [Announce] Stroke Order Chinese Input Method

Is it possible to use this in place of mscim (which doesn't have the symbols virtual keyboard and doesn't work in Qt apps)?

Also, I find this input method slower in normal use than pinyin input...

Re: how come most maemo apps are not great visually?

Perhaps you could give some feedback to the app's developer on what's wrong with the UI (and how to improve it).

Unhappy Re: [Q] N900 as UPnP Renderer?

The weird thing is I can use the Media Player as a UPnP control point (client) to browse through media on UPnP servers, but unable to use it as a UPnP renderer.

I'm using foo_upnp in foobar2000....
