Re: 2012 Coding Competition
Don't remember if it was discussed... :(
Are proprietary apps also accepted, or only open source?
I think it should also be added to the rules.

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
In development invested time is the most important thing, and proportional to the app quality.
It's the reason why the competition has a start and end time, so the developers can show what they can...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
For last year competition, if I remember correctly, the work on the app had to be done during the competition start and end time. If the same rule is used, I assume, you have to start to work on a...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
Multi-platform category is a good one, and I'm all for it. :)
In a competition, especially with prizes, there is no common sense. If we want for the competition to go as smooth as it can, we need...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
For the multi platform competition I can see several problems.
I could be a dick, monitor the applications that are in the competition and do the minimal amount of porting to have the same amount...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
This solution would be relevant only if zehjotkah decides to go with the results from RTSTV calculations.
For FTSTV calculations there is no tie and Rockmarble is third place, while...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
I'm all for it. :) The FTSTV, as it gives more constant results.
But zehjotkah has the final word. He has all the data and opinions.
Poor p-uae developer, he was so close...
Maybe we should have...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
As I can see, also the same what I got for FTSTV.
I think we have the correct results for both methods, FTSTV and RTSTV. The question remains which one to use.
For RTSTV we'le have the problem...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
Yes. I've run it several more times. Those two are changing.
From 20 runs I got: 11 p-uae and 9 Rockmarble.
More strange is how BashORGquotations always stays at 4th place.
I mean if it was a tie,...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
I recalculated the results with neal algorithm.
Use command:
openstv-run-election -s 1 FTSTV ~/election.blt
Then get for two seats, and get the second place, 3 seats... etc.
Here are my...

I see. Thank you for the explanation. You're right, the difference is probably in the distribution of votes after a candidate is eliminated. In neal's solution it's distributed the same, while my...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
Sorry, no script. But it can be written.
I run:
openstv-run-election -s 1 FTSTV election.blt
Copy/paste the winner into a file. :)
Edit the blt file and add -x, where x is the place of the app...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
Good question. Maybe it's that by withdrawing, usually apps win by reaching the threshold and not by elimination.
As I see it we both get the apps in list that would be returned by FTSTV if we run...

Re: MeeGo Coding Competition 2011
I wanted to say the problem with frictional transfer, and not your script, was that it doesn't give ranking.
I'm trying to find a solution which would use the same algorithm only with ranking.

diff? Sorry, no.
I did it only on Business & Office Category, by hand. So run election for 1 seat, copy the winner. Add winner to the withdrawn list, run the election again.

Here are the results I got, in less then 5...
