Thanks, using the skeiron repos the package manager still failed, but a manual apt-get update / upgrade seems to be working.

N900/Maemo 5 repositories
Tried to switch to Community SSU, but seems the repositories are broken. Can somebody let me know what should be in /etc/apt/sources.list to avoid the hash sum mismatches etc.?

Successfully installed Carman on my N900 (10.2010.19-1),
but when Carman starts up, it gives an error message about "No plugins found", and then goes in a mode where the only choice that works is...

Thanks, that did it - but starting map does cause a zombie gpsd process to hang around. And maemo mapper seems to need the map application to be running in order to find the gps.

Successfully installed minigpsd, and manage to start it (as verified by ps), but for some reason neither the map app or maemo mapper finds the gps daemon. As soon as I stop minigpsd, and restart map...

I can confirm your observations - once I finally got a fix again, the satellite status is almost realtime instead of "once every now and then", and holding my hand over the unit or holding the unit...

Hmm, by turning off GPS and turning it on again, the (wayfinder) map application finds the GPS, and so does Maemo Mapper. But despite using AGPS, maemo mapper only shows 1 satellite in view (strength...

Hmm... I tend to get satellite signal strengths between 22 and 25, so it does indeed sound like something is wrong with the GPS receiver/antenna. Duh! I guess the N810 is out of warranty by now... :(

Exactly the same experience with AGPS - the N810 sees the satellites, but doesn't get a fix.
Will try Minigpsd.

Tried a reboot (once again), and after 10 minutes 4 satellites are visible, but none in use - no fix :(
