But I went into my local town in Kingston-upon-Thames here to the Carphone Warehouse, who NOW HAVE AN N900 ON DISPLAY!

Oh ok...
try the following steps under Win 7 Kevven;
1) Open Windows Media Player
2) Click the 'view full screen button' (normally bottom right) OR click 'Go to library' to make Windows...

You need to make sure the data connection is active. Try when first turning the phone on to do a manual send/receive, this kicks the data into life...then there should be no problem if you have set...

Make sure the folder you are plonking your music and video in is one of the 'Public' folders....not the User folders in Windows Vista/7...those are locked by default and so your N900, whilst being...
