Re: Debian SID for 770

Hey again,

Just uploaded a tar image of my sid+e17. You can download it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RC4D6W60

Keep in mind that this image is _broken_. That is: when you boot it nothing...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Hey all,

Sorry for not posting earlier, I had to put my nokia770 and all I was doing a bit on hold.

So, how to get e17 up and running in your debian sid?

Well, it takes a bit of work...

Re: Debian "Sneak Preview" Release for N800/N810!

Quick post here.

I got e17 running on my 770 and it's pretty fast. Thought I'd drop you a line since this thread + SID on 770 are somewhat related threads.

Cheerios folks!

Re: Debian SID for 770

Just a quick comment, I will also cross post on the debian on the n800. I got e17 working (wahey!) and it works pretty fast (if you compile with optimisations and all).

I will try to either upload...

Re: Debian SID for 770

e16keyedit and e16menuedit are also available as packages.

Not sure about the kind of keybindings you'd use though.

Re: Debian SID for 770

I just realised that there are debian packages for e16 et al. Compiling it and testing it was still fun though.

Re: Debian SID for 770

I haven't done much with it really (this was last night). Seems to be very responsive and the bling is nice (not e17 though). Now I'm working on tweaking it so it's better fitted to the IT (larger...

Re: Debian SID for 770

right, managed to build+run e16 on my 770. Oddly enough, all I had to do was compile e16 inside scratchbox, scp and run. It works no problems.

Re: Debian SID for 770

I suggest you go to #edevelop on freenode. Speak to k-s, top guy! He ported EFL to the IT and is behind Canola2. I started doing some python+EFL stuff and he helped me a lot. EFL certainly works in...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Maybe you're using the wrong SDK? I know that Bora is for OS2007 and gregale (I believe) is for OS2006. I guess that might have something to do with it all, but then again, since you're using your...

Re: Debian SID for 770

About Xomap, I did something along those lines. Repacked the debs from ITOS and dpkged into my debian. One thing to look for, for some reason /usr/lib/ wasn't included by default in my debootstrap...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Agree.

Definitely not. A bit more than just xterm+vkbd is needed, but still KDE might be a bit too much.

On a different but related topic, and perhaps apple2 can shed some light here, I...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Hey, someone has to do it ;)

Are you calling my 770 archaic? ;) Seriously, a 770 has serious memory limitations (unless you buy an extra card). I just recently bought a card and until then I...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Fair enough. That's a start. I imagine that replacing the usual utilities with busybox might reduce the size a bit further.

A 100M image + X + blackbox might be a good start I guess.

Re: Debian "Sneak Preview" Release for N800/N810!

Follow up post:

debootstrapping work no problem. A couple of issues though with tslib and equiv. For some reason equivs refused to cooperate to I had to repack the dependencies for Xomap. Other...

Re: Debian SID for 770

I googled my tits off looking for doc on Xomap!!!

Cheers for the tip ...

Now, while we're at it. It's all nice and cool to have your own Debian running on the tablet but, I've seen...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Hey,

So, debootstrapping results in a usable debian in the sense that you can telnet to it, apt stuff, etc. No X though. I tried Johnx's method of repacking Xomap with no success, i.e. X is up,...

Re: Debian "Sneak Preview" Release for N800/N810!

Hi folks,

FWIW, I debootstrapped a SID in my 770 following Johnx's howto (cheers chap!) and it worked. I have to add that the "bonus" section is a gem if you don't know what to do with that...

Re: Debian SID for 770

Great job apple2.

Just tried it yesterday on my 770. It was somewhat slow, but I can live with that.

I recall another member asking you how to go about getting your own debian for the IT. I...

Re: Custom GUI / Shell Replacement for ITTs?

Aye up chaps!

First of all, glad to see the thread is alive.

One thing I noticed in a couple of posts was that people said "oh, let's write this down and suggest it to Nokia". If I get to say...

Re: Custom GUI / Shell Replacement for ITTs?

Aye up chaps,

First post in this forum.

I recently got my 770 and I love the beast. Sure, it's not the best in the range but it does the job.

Wanting to change the appearance and interaction...
