I had the same problem with my N900 a while ago. The screen worked, but there was no backlight. In my case it turned out to be a damaged Motherboard Flex Ribbon Cable.

These cables are not that...

Trying to disable magnet sensor on N800. Can anyone help

I recently dropped my N800. I notice it did not detect any memory cards in the internal slot. I could access them in the external slot. I tried the remedy involving the missing magnet on the battery...
