I have not reflashed, I tried to download the flashing software and the images but they timed out, probably due to the servers being down.

That is the next step though.

I have downloaded KMPlayer and it plays fine.

I don't think it's hardware, but it could be directory structure. How is the file system supposed to look. I have a suspicious 'Mac OS' directory...
