Re: Could this be the next the Maemo 6 device?

If they were going to make a 12 key keypad, why not just make it a T9 slider/candybar and be done with it?

Anyone who favours QWERTYs (be it hardware or on-screen) are going to hate that keyboard.

Re: Why is the N900 image size so small?

Is there a way to output RAW directly without automatic conversion to JPEG? Might be useful if one wanted to compress it with PNG, for example.

Re: Capacitive touchscreen on the next Maemo?

I just want a stylus. Beyond that I don't care one bit.

Re: What would you realistically like to see in the N920?

USB host including USB audio, number row on the keyboard, thinner, and an OLED screen.

Re: SiliconValley Analyst wants Maemo "Axed"

It won't though. The N900 alone is quite likely to outsell the Pre, and that's only a tiny slice of Nokia's total handset sales.

Re: SiliconValley Analyst wants Maemo "Axed"

Any "analyst" who thinks Nokia should buy Palm is more worthy of getting the axe than Maemo is.

Why would any sane company spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying a company when their own...

Re: it will still work in asia, right?

It's pretty hard to find info on what GSM and WCDMA bands are used in the Philippines with a google search, but from what I could tell every single one of the carriers there uses frequencies...

Re: Kiwi Members and N900

This has certainly ranked as one of the worst product rollouts I've ever experienced.

Hopefully it'll ship soon so I won't be stuck in the christmas season international shipping logjam.

Re: more apple2 than iphone

This might only appeal to the geek market, but I'd love a fully featured copy of GIMP on my phone.

Re: Torch on N900

Is the voltage and current supplied to the LEDs not controllable by software? If it can be, set it to some value within the safe operation range of the LEDs.

Re: guesstimate how many N900s theyve sold so far

BLT is a wholesaler, not just a retailer. Some (possibly even most) of those units will be for stores, not consumers.

And waiting...and waiting...and waiting...

I'm sure the number of units sold will increase significantly once people can start buying the device from their favourite retailer and not have to hop...

Re: Expect from tv-out picture quality?

You're basically looking at a video scaler to do that.

The box you linked to seems to be exactly that, but quality will probably be low at that price.

Re: What won't work in New Zelaand? If I buy a US model

3 is unusual, though. The only problem you'll run into with Vodafone NZ is their crap prices and poor service, the SIMs will work fine.

Shopblt.com in my case.

I've never used them before, so don't take that as a recommendation or anything.

Re: What won't work in New Zelaand? If I buy a US model

Telecom have almost no 2100 towers, so if you went with them you'd be getting pretty acquainted with EDGE.

2degrees will be turning their 3G towers on "sometime" next year (seriously, they're as...
