Re: [Announce] ApMeFo (beta 0.9-5) - Create custom folders in your Application Menu

Horizontal tab bar translates poorly to mobile applications, especially in landscape view. If a tab bar is really necessary (it's not), it should at least be vertical
[Text Box] [Select] is fairly...

Re: Saving battery power with underclocking, low voltage etc.

It looks like there is some confusion as to why a minimum frequency of 500MHz would save power. So, let's begin CPU Power Consumption Learning Time with Zhentar!

There are 3 main components to CPU...

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and its release date

At my employer, we promise release dates fairly well in advance, but we almost never promise specific features, so that when things inevitably fall behind schedule or run into trouble, we can cut...

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and its release date

Nokia has been open about their position on this issue in the past. The next update will be released as soon as it's ready; that is, as soon as they are confident about the quality and testing issues...

Re: n900 Transmission very slow download

It seems to be related to file size. The torrent that was killing me was 2gb. I paused it, added a 170mb torrent, still very unresponsive even at extremely 15kb/s.

I removed the 2gb torrent, and...

Re: n900 Transmission very slow download

I'm not quite having the same problem. I downloaded a torrent, and I seem to be limited to 15-20kb/sec. However, this doesn't seem to be a bandwidth limitation - CPU usage is sky high, and the entire...

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

I've filed bug 8340 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8340) on the issue. I imagine it's more of an oversight than a bug.

The good news is that it's Modest related, which is open source, so...

Re: What's wrong with N900 memory?

Swap memory is 'virtual ram' on a PC. With 256MB RAM and 768MB swap, you've got a full gigabyte of virtual memory, which is pretty much obscene for a phone.

There are two features I am interested that I think could fit into the realm of your application...

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

Looked through the sqlite database; item 5:667 was the old version of the meeting; folder 5 is the deleted messages folder, so while I don't know what status 7 is, I'm guessing it has something to do...

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

I'm aware that the N900 can't handle responding to meeting requests right now, but has anyone observed it interfering with the proper functioning of meeting requests in Outlook?

Since getting my...

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish? Internet/Data connections work totally different on Maemo as compared to S60, so more or less what you are asking is not possible, but I can't imagine why...

Thanks for the link but I'm the reporter for that bug ;)

Re: Wireless WPA/TKIP/PEAP+MSCHAP problem

I figured out that there is a list of certificates stored in /etc/secure/s/certman.common-ca
Sadly, I cannot simply remove the offending certificate as the file is signed. Guess I'll just have to...

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

Well, it wasn't syncing, but it's looking like that's my IT department's fault and MfE is working just fine. I fixed the folder by manually loading the database in sqlite and updating the folder...

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

Apologies if any of these have already been covered; I tried skimming but it's a pretty big thread.

1. One of my folders has a "/" in its name. Modest does not like this. Fortunately, it doesn't...
