I'm having the same problem as described by slaapliedje and Grazy.
All of a sudden my N9 started to loose the signal. And no matter what I do, it keeps telling me, that there is no signal or no sim...

You can do it very easily in the menu at the same spot, where you can "delete all maps".
-> Just select "update maps" and then you can select the maps that you want to update and all other...
