Re: n900 with voice only service

Since a data plan costs me extra and I don't really need that I haven't booked it for years.
AGPS via wifi works fine, but I've never seen it working via cell towers. Depending on how many...

Re: Neovim on n900

I'm sorry, I can't build those packages.
There is no explicit dependency on libc6 2.7 in the packages, it comes implicitely from the build system.
If there is a way to manipulate this implicit...

Re: Neovim on n900

I still have some Debian chroots on my Cubieboard2 for Easy Debian backports, where I could try to rebuild those packages for older libc6 versions.
So far I know that you'd need libuv1 and...

Re: Neovim on n900

You could try to just drop the libc6 version check from the libuv1 package or rebuild libuv1 after lowering the required libc6 dependency in its source package.
Either result might or might not work...

Re: Neovim on n900

From your github:Actually, the armel stretch package formally only depends on libc6 >= 2.4 [1], so at least that shouldn't be a problem when just installing the Stretch package on Maemo with libc6...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

I fail to see the ... um ... progress in this "progress report".

This is basically 1/3 company business and 2/3 arts.
While this is both nice and fine, where is the info about the...

marble+monav+longer route = reboot

Hi,

I've been using marble for basic routing on my N900 for a long time, but I didn't use it in combination with monav. Just this morning I installed monav to see how well it works.

I use the...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

While I agree with you on the point of businesses and achievable goals in general, I do not agree with you on the Neo900-specific "mission creep".

I don't care about the "better infrared" or the...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

Just some quick tip (and it's probably not even new in this thread - in fact I'm pretty sure it's at least mentioned somewhere in the early 100 pages):

I just installed Marble in ED and stumbled...

Re: Can the N900 mine crypto money ?

Just opening the file might work fine, but even accessing random parts of it would probably stall the CPU, causing the watchdog to kick in and reboot the device.
And I'm not yet talking about...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

You're right, thanks!
It's under: Options/Navigation/Language

When I first tried modrana I had no GPS signal, so changing anything here had no effect since without a position there were no...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

@rinigus, MartinK:
Thanks a lot for your answers, but I must admit I lack the expertise to follow much of it.

My preferred way of navigation is still a paper map and the sun, especially while...

From the anouncement it seems to me they are pretty much set on using the i.MX8M unless something catastrophic happens.
That would also answer my previous post: According to ARM, the i.MX8M ist...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

That's unfortunate.
Of couse I can just decide to ignore instructions if I know the route. But then I don't need routing at all.
If I don't know the route then unexpectedly ending up on an S2 trail...

Believe it or not, after managing to ignore it for almost 8 years I finally got around to trying modrana, mainly due to this recent thread: [1]

My first impression after approximately two hour of...

Re: Gemini PDA Happened, A Debian Linux Dream Came True..

I see.
Well, since you'd have to build CDE on your own anyways you could just as well try TWIN [1], for a TRUE true 90s interface. ;)

Re: Gemini PDA Happened, A Debian Linux Dream Came True..

Early versions of Xfce were heavily inspired by CDE, and since the Debian variant already uses Xfce, one could argue, that you'd be using some sort of spiritual offspring of CDE anyways.

Re: Gemini PDA Happened, A Debian Linux Dream Came True..

According to the indiegogo page the 2nd Linux besides Android is Debian.

Some questions:
1. Does this Debian have its own kernel or does it use the Android kernel?
2. If it has its own kernel,...

Re: the Fremantle Porting Task Force, or "how to run maemo on Neo900"

@Ken-Young:
While the N900 certainly has more than enough power to run bash (or any other shell), I think it's still a good idea to keep the default shell at a bare minimum, which means busybox....
