Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Has there been any success before I start dpkg-ing in Halftux's debs?
I would rather trust either cut/pasting a few lines into a file or obviously apt upgrading than hand installing random and...

Re: Life Span

My ideas for longevity
1-Use a replaceable SD card for swap save your internal MMC
2-keep backup images and backup of repos
3-DO NOT use the double-Scud battery hack, this flexes the system board...

Re: Life Span

I had this I recall it being caused by frequent cold shutdowns; the battery being loose due to the Mugen cover & double Scud connection issue, one day the LED was stuck. I don't think it was lit...

Re: Who is still interested in Neo900?

Ends, I have used a crappy microUSB KB folio with my Nexus 7(flo) tablet, it is pretty damn crappy and no N900 clickyness; not sure there is a decent add on keyboard out there as I clack this out on...

Re: Who is still interested in Neo900?

The Neo900 was I believe nearly 100% bin compatible with our froxen blob ridden Maemo5 Linux so we might have been able to use most apps open and closed.
I would just be happy to have a similar form...

Re: Last straw with me and continuing with Windows

Well, that is interesting that I can save 50% of my limited budget going direct, very interesting.
Too bad I just bought an Asus with mobile CPU/GPU instead of a real full power rock crusher for...

Re: Last straw with me and continuing with Windows

Has anyone tried System76 native Linux machines? The top end laptops seem like real max power beasts, desktop CPU/GPUs in a laptop form factor; they also disable the Intel management engine by...

Re: Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley seeking N770

I feel like the next door neighbr to Google is probably funded but it can be hard for some poor nerdy kid to get their hands on a brokne laptop where they have to fix the power supply or replace the...

Re: Anyone has the Flasher for N900 ?

Re: Anyone has the Flasher for N900 ?

Most Debain based Linux distros have it in the repositories, it is free open source software so worst case find source and compile it for your OS.

Re: micro sd card doesnt work

In my experience if the card works withother machines and is a clean fat32 formatting it is that the magnet that hlods the little kickstand around the camera apeature is missing. It also activates...

Re: Oversize me! (battery thread)

the acetone 'melts' the ABS plastic by partially dissolving it into a goo, but a single or even several layer print even at high temp is still only as strong as the contact points of the squirted...

Re: Oversize me! (battery thread)

I have done most of the hacks considered in this thread, double cell, inductive charging (Qi and Touchstone) I have rebuilt the USB port and I have installed a secondary charging board inside a Mugen...

Re: [Announce] Maebble - Pebble support for Maemo

The version of Java for gadgetbridge is off from what is on the N900, the best bet is is to use it as a playbook for someone interested in writing a new maemo app.

As for bluetooth 4 LE on the...

Re: [Announce] Maebble - Pebble support for Maemo

Maebble is based on libpebble, not sure the basis of gadgetbridge. I doubt the Xiaomi uses the same or similar protocol to the Pebble.
You can review the python for maebble to see if it lines up...

Re: N900 Wireless Charging

If you have found a receiver with shorted data pins please post it to that thread. In fact if you figure out anything else novel also post it so I can add it to that thread.

Re: Gemini PDA (the return of the Psion Series 5MX)

(edit) I looked at more pix, I am pretty sure there is no room for mechanical key switches.

As for the thread I...

Re: [WTS] Nokia N900 Used - California

Be careful this is one of the Chinese Refurbished "New" N900s.
The outsides are new but the circuit board is from a repaired N900, though the ones I have had are nasty dirty work.
If it works...
