Re: Jolla at MWC 2015

Looks great.

Sensible changes to the N9 UI if you ask me.

I like the idea of a companion app. That will be Spotify for me.

Re: Jolla Tablet

Well I'm not a fan of Android. In particular because switching between apps on my S4 is still nowhere near as seemless as it was on the N900/N9. All I wanted was an N9 with better specs.

Things I...

Re: Jolla Tablet

In what aspects is the UI on the Jolla Tablet going to differ from that on the phone?

I installed Sailfish OS on my N9 a long time ago and hated almost all the design decisions they made. Since...

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Will apps be closed automatically if you open more than 9?

As long as the browser has tabs I don't mind having an open app limit btw.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Well I meant the first impressions at engadget and theverge, but in the meantime I've also read very positive stuff, like the more extensive review at golem.de.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

I'm a bit worried about the negative initial reactions to the UI. More than anything else a new OS should make a good first impression. Its something WP failed at IMO.

Re: Official specs of Jolla phone surface

So without VAT its around 300 euros. I think the specs are more or less appropriate for the price. Certainly not a bargain though.

Re: HTC and Jolla - Partners?

I think HTC is not big enough at that point for their own OS. It had 5.8% market share in 2012 and revenue of under $10bn. They also made losses.

I suspect they picked an existing Linux-based OS.

Re: Sailfish(Jolla): Ideas/Qns & Concerns/Criticisms

In the light of recent developments I think Jolla has a slight chance to establish itself on the market.

- The NSA leaks have shown that Android (or better the services that come along with it) is...

Re: Microsoft buying Nokia's devices & services

^

Wrong, Nokia can use its brand for mobile products from 1. January 2016 onwards.

MS bought the ability to produce a wide range of MS branded smartphones and Nokia featurephones. They still...

Re: Microsoft buying Nokia's devices & services

That would be a disaster. Jolla must stay independent.

Re: Microsoft buying Nokia's devices & services

Ok seriously guys. Who cares about "devices & services"?

Nokia is aiming for the next DISRUPTION! Remember? Nokia got rid of its phone business today like it got rid of the tire business decades...

Re: Microsoft buying Nokia's devices & services

And yet Nokia keeps the patents and the research in that field. I'm not sure Nokia has given up on mobile. Maybe they're "waiting" until the market moves again.

Re: So... Microsoft finally purchases Nokia.

Exactly :D. No seriously, the consumer market is overrated anyway. Its what normal people identify with, thus they think nothing behind it exists.

The company will not disappear. This is positive for Nokia, they got rid of Microsoft and can focus on more profitable endeavours now.

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

Not at all, but an Android phone with Ubuntu Mobile as an extra won't succeed in establishing Ubuntu Mobile as a new OS in the consumer market.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

Meh, IT is much more than Facebook and Google.
Besides, those companies also have research centers in Europe.

Sweden for example has an impressive game industry for its size (e.g. DICE and...
