Re: ANNOUNCE: Diablo-Turbo first beta available

I have 5,052 lifeguard_resets due to bme_RX-34. And that's just counting since I last reformatted the thing.

Thanks, Nokia. I'm never buying anything you make ever again.

I had a similar experience, and consequently uninstalled it.

Re: Yes, the N8x0 has a 3d accelerator, now how do we make it work?

It would be good to use as many common codepaths with N900 MeeGo as possible to minimize the number of strange, N8x0-specific bugs that the community would have to track down and fix.

Maybe I'll...

Re: Modest Crashes whenever screen is touched

I fixed this on my dad's tablet by opening up a terminal and running:

mv .modest .modest-backup

And restarted modest. That fixed the problem for him.

In my dad's case, all the accounts...

Re: N810 reboots repeatedly, not more after 1 day with battery off

This is a known bug in the BME driver. If you search the forums, you can find suitably indignant, angry, pitchfork-and-torch-wielding posts about how Nokia screwed us there.

Also, you can search...

Re: N810 stuck in recharge mode

This sounds like the BME bug described here: Bug 3144 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3144)

Re: 'Fixed in Fremantle' and Diablo community SSU

I'm quite aware that he was not referring to the community SSU, and that Nokia never did their own full SSU. According to the comment, they already developed a fix. I was wondering if anyone had...

Re: 'Fixed in Fremantle' and Diablo community SSU

I see references to a bugfix to the BME in this bugreport (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3144), with the intent that it would go out with a later SSU (according to the comments), but there...

Re: New blog series, "What I have done for the N8x0's lately"

Bug #6206 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6206) for the BME problem, and Bug #9314 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9314) for getting an open BME (in response to Nokia's unwillingness...

Re: New blog series, "What I have done for the N8x0's lately"

Well, guys, we need to make some noise so that people know that it's important to us that the BME problem is fixed. I know the BME is closed-source, but I think there was at least a rough...

Re: New blog series, "What I have done for the N8x0's lately"

Yes, I am, and the SSU doesn't address the buggy BME (apparently charging an N8x0 with aged batteries can, under some circumstances, crash BME, which causes the tablet to reboot), nor the N800...

Re: New blog series, "What I have done for the N8x0's lately"

My big problems are BME crashes and USB-OTG switching bugs both of which are huge battery killers for me.

USBControl helps with the second, but it's not a fix.

Re: Strange N800 problem. (is it the hardware?)

I have a similar problem on occasion.

The touch screen stops responding for me, and it's usually after something was sitting on top of it for a long while.

If the touchscreen controller gets...

Re: [N900] File manager only sees MyDocs. Is there a better file manager?

Is the source for the built-in file browser open source? Maybe somebody could add a "red-pill mode" for the file browser, as well, allowing you to escape MyDocs and browse the whole filesystem.

Re: FBReader 0.10.0, maemo4, compiled from source

They're suggesting in the newsgroup that they'll have the maemo port up to feature parity and built somewhere around February 20th.

Re: FBReader 0.10.0, maemo4, compiled from source

This build seems... incomplete. The CSS options are in the configuration dialog, but it's not rendering any of the CSS styles.

Using the official 0.10.0 or 0.10.1 for Linux desktop, it renders my...

Re: Diablo Update Fixes Battery Drain?

Probably not. Even when your tablet is "fully off", it draws the tiniest trickle of power to keep time. That way when you turn it back on, it still knows what time it is.

The same hardware that...

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

the "peripherals" of the N800 (SD card size, radio chip, no GPS, no slider)
the form factor of the N810 (same size - or smaller!, faceplate camera,...

Re: Diablo Released - Say Goodbye to Firmware Flashing

Did you file a bug or feature request?

If it had that ONE feature, would it suddenly be a good idea?

Not everyone needs the same things from an email client and Modest is a much better client...
