Re: ACCESS Releases Garnet VM Beta 3
If you absolutely have to run Palm apps, get a Palm. Are those books not available in any other format? FBReader uses Palm Plucker format easily, and if you can find it in almost any format there...

Re: Sync with google contacts?
You can export from Google, and import into the N800, but I don't know of a real sync method. There is at least one person who has said he is going to work on it, but I've seen no results yet. ...

Re: ACCESS Releases Garnet VM Beta 3
When I finally got around to flashing Diablo, almost all my apps were reinstalled, and I didn't lose much of anything. I still haven't gotten around to getting GVM.

Re: Why Can't They
It's easy enough to write a program for any OS, but the map data isn't free, and has to be purchased from NavTeq or another company. It's the data that costs, and nobody can or will provide that for...

Re: RoadMap and Routing
I haven't played with Roadmap in some time, but ISTR that it did its own routing, which is certainly possible with vector maps. There should be no reason for downloading routes if they are used,...

Re: Inflight USB power for your NIT?
The airlines can allow any devices they want to. They just have to test the devices to make sure they don't affect the avionics. There is really no way bluetooth or wifi back in the cattle car can...

Re: Calendar?
Erminig works, but it isn't necessary. The basic GPE calendar will sync with your Google calendar all by itself. It takes a little tinkering, but it does work. The only problem is that you get...

Re: Aluminum case interferring with N810 GPS
If you really need GPS, an external bluetooth unit is the way to go. You can put it wherever you like, and where it gets good reception. There are keychain models available that reportedly work...

Re: Aluminum case interferring with N810 GPS
Metal will definitely block GPS signals, as will water. But if you want protection, metal is superior to leather or plastic. You could remove the NIT from the case when you need to use the GPS, but...

Re: Eee PC or Sony PSP?
For me, the Eee is perfect. The keyboard is small, but it took me about a day to get used to it, and now I can type as fast as I can on a large keyboard, maybe faster. It doesn't get as hot as my...

Re: PIM Contest
Datebk is the best I've seen, but it's Palm. CESD has sent emails saying he is porting it to Windows as a desktop app, and i suppose we can dream it will also come to Linux, and then a Maemo port. ...

Re: PIM Contest
The gold standard of PIMs is simple - Palm perfected PIMs years ago, and still has the best, by a wide margin. Nobody else has come close.

Roadnav does offline routing, but I don't think it has been ported to Maemo. Navit is also supposed to do it, and there has been some porting activity. Do a forum search for both and see what the...

Re: idle question
CWI can be dangerous. I advocate coding while sober, then drinking. Debugging drunken code can be very laborious.
