Re: BiTtorrent Sync & automatic start on boot

That only applies to systems based on sysVinit and similar. Maemo is based on Upstart, so the scripts you need to be looking at for inspiration are in /etc/event.d/

Unfortunately, I'm not exactly...

Re: [HOWTO] N900 Bluetooth-PAN Tethering (N900 supplies Internet Access for PC)

For folks wanting the internet connection to come up on BT connection, I suppose one might be able to get away with inserting an "/sbin/ifconfig gprs0 up" at the end of every bnepX "add" action in...

Re: Story time! How did you decide to buy the N900/N950/N9

First smartphone was a Treo 680, which I used concurrently with a Palm T|X - I'd been attached to the PalmOS platform since my teenage years when I got a hand-me-down Pilot 5000 for my birthday. Was...

Re: I'm so just DONE

In theory, it's possible. In practice, while Google didn't quite go in with malicious intentions to make it impossible, they didn't exactly bother to do the little things that would have made it...

Re: [HOWTO] N900 Bluetooth-PAN Tethering (N900 supplies Internet Access for PC)

Turns out I was living a charmed life w/r/t not having to have udev run ifconfig for every bnepX device on my first phone. The second phone required it. So I've edited my post accordingly.

Re: [HOWTO] N900 Bluetooth-PAN Tethering (N900 supplies Internet Access for PC)

That looks about right to me. I didn't have to do it, but he did so YMMV.

I'm actually having to recreate this configuration on a new phone (my old one's internal memory is dying), so if I come...

Ironically, it appears to be "getting information to new users is hard." :)

Re: N900 and N9 for sale

OK; assuming the sale works out, francoisg and I can work something out separately or something. :)

Re: N900 and N9 for sale

Is the N900 still available? Mine is showing signs of sudden onset dementia. I'm in Central Ohio.

And if francoisg really wants that game grip pad, he's welcome to it. I have one already. ;)

Re: How many of you still use N900 as main phone?

Got mine in January 2010. So it's been a while. And y'know, I keep an eye out, watching the market for anything that meets my needs.

But right now what I get by with is a pocket Linux computer...

Re: Bluetooth Tethering On N900 No Longer Works

I prefer not having to run any script on the n900 at all.

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

Reminds me of iPhone 4 versus iPhone 5, personally. The proportions are pretty similar.

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

Speaking as one who's surrounded by family members and friends with iPhone 3GSes, calling it "still supported" is an extraordinarily dubious position to take. It's "supported" in the sense that it's...

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

I'd at least assume that SailfishOS is likely to be (ultimately) as customizable as Maemo. At least, that'd be the hope.

With that in mind... if and/or when they reveal for certain that there will...

Re: [Announce] DropN900 - the maemo 5 DropBox client

I needed to install two additional packages to make this work:
python-setuptools
python-openssl

After that, though, it worked just fine.

Re: [HOWTO] N900 Bluetooth-PAN Tethering (N900 supplies Internet Access for PC)

I have a multiple-PCs method that doesn't use this script at all - it actually functions automatically once you make the BT connection. No need to run a script!

It's pretty straightforward, but it...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Alpha release of Open Media Player

So far as I can tell, OMP is presently assuming that any .m3u playlist opened via dbus call that contains Ogg Vorbis audio-only files in it (extension .ogg) is a video playlist, not a music...

Re: Using MicroB address bar for launching specific search engines (proof of concept)

It always bothered me that this little script idea couldn't handle searches that require POST and won't listen to GET (see: forecaster.ca). In about two and a half years, though, I never got around...

Re: Must read! Tomi Ahonen roasts Elop's decisions

Enh. His shtick isn't so much Nokia bashing as Elop bashing, which I would have assumed to be fairly popular around here. That said... yeah, he repeats himself a lot in these blog entries, and it...

Re: Why do people say MeeGo is dead?

I'm not sure where you got the impression that I "want to go to Meltemi". I'm perfectly happy with my N900. If anything, I want Maemo to keep on going on, but that almost certainly isn't going to...

Re: [HOWTO] N900 Bluetooth-PAN Tethering (N900 supplies Internet Access for PC)
