[SOLD] N900, [STILL SELLING] Dead N810

I'm selling my N900 which has the "Communication Error" fault. This means the phone and GPS don't work.

But it still works as a 32GB music player, a camera, a WiFi web browser, etc, or as a source...

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

We've all been spoiled by the N900 speakers.

With the Note, you can get a worthwhile improvement in sound quality (and volume) by leaving a gap of 1cm between the back of the phone and the surface...

Re: n900 still a good choice

I doubt you'll find performance to be a problem. The dual-core and quad-core phones are generally pushing screens that contain more pixels than the N900, and much of their extra power gets used up...

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

I wrote that nine months ago. Now my N900 has died, and I did get the Note as a replacement. I haven't been disappointed.

For me the biggest downside is that the Note only has a mono speaker. I've...

Re: Preloaded OpenStreetMaps in N900

iDavid, I used mappero for hiking. It's fantastic! You can preload openstreetmap for any area or route. For some places, openstreetmap has better mapping of hiking routes than any other source. I...

Re: N900 Bricked? Won't Turn On At All - Now What?

Try this very simple fix. It won't work for everyone, but it un-bricked my N900 when I had similar problems:

Re: Try this before reflashing!

Thank you so much for posting this, Jeff. It worked perfectly to unbrick my N900, and it's much simpler than any other method.

Ceefour: you asked for more details. Yes, the other end of the USB...

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

If my N900 dies, this will be my replacement. In a way, the Galaxy Note is where Nokia should have taken the N800.

On a screen this big, I can live without a hardware keyboard. For me, the...

Re: HOT: N950 manual is now online

Perhaps the reason that the N950 is "developers only" is that the N950 might come without DRM and the N9 might come with DRM?

Re: Ecosystem talk, Is MS/Nokia fighting yesterday’s battle?

All the more ironic, considering that Nokia virtually owned the tablet market back in the days of the N800.

Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

I'm just observing that if one lumbers along with the leviathan without taking the risks of disruption, then one is more likely to end up being consoled in bed by Microsoft than taking the glory of...

Good point. Microsoft may even be more interested in killing Qt than in growing WP7.

Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

The thing is, Quim, although your own passions are pure, you've always been the apologist for the corporate behemoth, never prepared to risk your neck and your job to do what Maemo/Meego needed for...

Re: Is there anything we can do??

Elop would not have made this announcement unless he knew he had the full backing of the Nokia board.

Re: Nokia CEO Elop lays groundwork for new strategy to be announced next month, a move away from meego? Hello WP7!!

You are right. So step 5 is "Release a stillborn MeeGo phone."

Equally pathetic.

Re: Nokia CEO Elop lays groundwork for new strategy to be announced next month, a move away from meego? Hello WP7!!

1. Release the 770 to popular acclaim.
2. Release the N800/N810 to widespread success.
3. Release the N900 as a failed attempt to compete with iPhone.
4. Release a stillborn MeeGo phone.
5....

Re: LED (Flashlight) Durability

LED life is shortened by excessive heat. If you drive it hard, it won't last so long.

However, the flashlight app drives the LEDs within their specs, and at a much lower level than they are driven...

Re: When will nokia concept phone will come.

A concept phone will never "come". By definition, a concept phone is one that is described but will never be produced:

Re: n900Fly

I have only tried it outdoors, where it would fall onto grass if I don't catch it. But I haven't gone over 2.6 metres because I still don't want to risk dropping it.

Re: Bitcoin server running on an N900

I only run it when plugged in to the charger or to a USB socket. But I'm one of those who has never been able to get a full day out of the N900 battery if I leave WiFi on.

Power consumption is...
