Out of curiosity i just tried with my T-mobile internet connection and the DNS settings are applied without forcing IP address.
Will need to check once if Wifi has a different result.

seems you are connected to the router at the least.
Can you modify the connection and add the following OpenDNS ip's in place of the DNS Servers instead of having them auto populated....

WPA with pre shared key should work if you have a only a common password to login.
If you login to the network using individual user names and password you'll have to use EAP.

On a serious note, i'll give this app a shot and see if there is some problem with the app version itself. Segmentation fault can mean anything from faulty hardware to faulty app....

No nothing will open.
rygel AFAIK doesnt have a UI and only scans the media present in the system and makes it available over UPNP.
So you can simply do a top command from a different xterm...
