At the current time, no. Perhaps one day someone with more knowledge about maemo than me will figure it out or point me in the right direction but for now i am using another phone.

There are many other threads on this topic. Most of them are under the name of sim card failed etc where the user is experiencing a lack of cellular connectivity and a sim card with a bar through it....

I had
from PyQt4 import QtGui,QtCore,QtNetwork
seems i needed
from PyQt4.QtNetwork import QNetworkAccessManager
too.
now it is telling me connect is not defined, but i can probably work that...
