Considering my first Windows 3.0 machine was a 16 mhz 386 with 2mb of ram, I would think a 400 mhz ARM processor can easily run/emulate Windows 3.1.

In theory it can run any embedded OS, but who's going to go through with porting it, writing device drivers for it, and who knows what else.

Yeah, but the nXXX series was never supposed to be a phone in the first place. Nokia has smartphones, what was the point of cannibalizing the nXXX series and releasing a Maemo based n97?

On a n810 that's a soft reset. A hard reset would be to reflash. I don't think this has changed on the n900. I suggested some time ago that a hard reset mechanism should be built into the n900...
