Re: Discussing JollaOy strategy

Fine, but offering that one thought for 24 pages? I'm sure it's more than enough for Jolla to pick it up, if they're interested.

Re: Discussing JollaOy strategy

Since this is such a major issue to you, a free tip: if you can't live with the "level of openness in communication" Jolla provides, the easiest way out is to take your money to some company that...

Re: So... Microsoft finally purchases Nokia.

I think he meant it's not an interesting business, because you'd need to go toe-to-toe with Samsung or Apple, to collect profits good enough to sustain the company.

Re: I am back and using my n900

I'd use mine a lot more if battery capacity wasn't so limited. Yeah, it's bulky and slow too, but many times just having the KB makes up for those.

Re: Who will switch to LUMIA 920, or consider buying it?

Problem is, n900 starts to be a bit old, and N9 doesn't have a KB. Without a KB, it doesn't make a big difference which OS you're running now (at least I can't be bothered with anything more advanced...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

Apple is just one manufacturer, and there are lots of people who can't stand apple. With android you could at least get your Motorola, Sony-Ericsson or whatever you used to have. At the time Android...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

The "basic" smartphone features probably. And things like extensive configurability/hackability, multitasking, developer and user communities, tinkering with OS, "power user" use cases, custom ROMs...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

I think tizen, FF etc. compete with Android mostly. People who purchase WP phones aren't generally interested in stuff those OS's bring to table anyway. Besides, calling WP "weak" is too much of a...

Re: Will you buy the Jolla phone?

"Why is nobody considering Ubuntu Phones?"

Well, I use debian desktop instead of ubuntu, because ubuntu adds things - things that are a distraction. I guess the thought somehow sticks. It may be...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

Nothing will get from ~0% to any significant market share in a few years time, not anymore. People who think so are delusional. The market is already flooded with phones that have everything + the...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

From practical point of view it's not far from thruth. Now, there's Samsung, and without the lesser non-profit brands you could say that all the fruit from Googles effort in creating and enhancing...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

Yep, nothing like the other unnamed mobile OS, which has been in life support through it's entire existence :-P

That said, I like WP much much more than the desktop OS's from the same origin.

Re: E7 vs Lumia 800. What to accept as replacement for N900?

It's not easy to find devices with a good KB like E7 now, and E7 isn't produced anymore. So it'll probably have better resale value than a lumia 800.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

To me it looks even more fragile than iPhone. There's almost nothing to absorb the impact energy when you drop it. Almost like it's designed to break.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

Nonsense. The only truely bad thing about N9 is that it was scrapped in favor of WP.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

But how are they going to keep it that way? With Android gadgets if anything, it's the specs/price ratio which affects what people will buy. Samsung doesn't have anything special that would make...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

All I'm saying his praising seems way overblown looking at the track record of the platform. The only reason it exists today is that MS could afford to pour money in it though it never produced any...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Ok answer this. If the MS made software is so exceptionally good as you make it sound, wouldn't you expect that after pumping billions to it's development for a decade (as MS did), and having a long...

Re: Sad news; Nokia apparently killed Meltemi

Perhaps so, but AFAIK the Meltemi project was also initiated after Elop was already in the office. Why do you think they allowed that, just a smoke screen? Also, MS has no viable platform to offer...

But after scrapping Meltemi, do they have any other choice but to develop S40 to that direction?

Re: Thanks to the Nokia employees for their work on the M* OSs

Well, by the looks of it, soon you will not have that problem anymore. Nokia and RIM gone, you can make the selection between an android phone, an iphone or an android phone. Hope that makes you feel...

As for Qt, doesn't nokia need it for S40?
