Re: What does Mobile Longevity Look to You?

Here's my take, formed mostly before the early March statement on how the N900 hardware will be one of the first things to run MeeGo at least in development, not necessarily as a release:

Re: Ovi Maps goes free for premium content (no N900 *yet*)

Another reason for me to keep my talk and texting phone and N800 and see what they do with maemo on the N900's successor.

Re: Ouch... Android is making my n900 look bad.

Really, until the feature you want is in the device you shouldn't buy it.

Until it's in the device, that feature is vaporware and for all you know it has been abandoned by its parent company.

Re: Ouch... Android is making my n900 look bad.

No US telco will subsidize the N900, so that doesn't matter to me. I have no idea if it would even work with TMobile data here.

So the 900 has bad battery life compared to the 800? That's...

Re: Ouch... Android is making my n900 look bad.

I haven't seen a real review on the n900 yet. How much app storage did the final unit ship with? This is a big question for me.

Re: Ouch... Android is making my n900 look bad.

I disagree. The phone can have a beautiful front end and a not-tough-to-access control panel to let the gearheads bolt on all sorts of fun things and open up the root access to the system. It...

Re: Ouch... Android is making my n900 look bad.

But is the platform open enough to have hooks that the community could do it? And if Nokia's developer docs are as bad as are hinted at elsewhere, is there really any hope for it to happen?

Re: N800 Memory Confusion

One of the first previews says the N900 has this same problem. Quoted mid-way down in my article here: http://www.farbot.com/node/4486

nice and fast UI

I really like how fast the new tree view is on my N800. It's much faster and easier to navigate and open items up with the stylus.

Default lock code for N800?

"Enter Lock Code 1/3"

I don't know if I've ever put a lock code in, but whatever I put in it says...

I see your point, but gameplay concerns could be ameliorated by having one and only one save slot that would be forced to continue when the game boots again.

Multitasking is nice but to conserve...

Re: liqbase :: dynamic scalable future ui

Maybe I bumped into something odd along the way.

I'll definitely give the youtube videos a look. A walkthrough will most likely give me the "a ha!" moment I need to understand it.
