Re: GPD Pocket

Currently I have no sound, so maybe this is answered in the video:
Is this a tiny touchpad or a pointing stick? It seems to be a touchpad. If so, how does it work at this size? I mean, there's not a...

Re: 2016/2017 coding competition notice

Same here. I just clicked it away when creating this thread, so I assumed everyone else has either done that a long time ago, or has become blind for it.

2016/2017 coding competition notice

Hi,

if you visit talk.maemo.org unregistered, you'll still see the notice about the 2016/2017 coding competition at the very top of each page:

I'm sure most of you have clicked that notice away...

Re: GPD Pocket

You mean, industrial designers are the same kind of people that make movie sequels? ;)

Re: Anyone here good with debian packaging?

Certainly worth a try, but I guess, jonwil would already have tried that.

Seeing the changelog [1], I would assume that using an older debhelper would break the current package or at least produce...

Re: installing Easy Debian v0.9.56-1fremantle1on nokia n900

You got it backwards!

You're the one having a problem and wanting it fixed. So it's your obligation to pay attention to what people ask of you and answer all their questions as precisely as...

Re: installing Easy Debian v0.9.56-1fremantle1on nokia n900

Now you have me wondering, what using this kind of extensions AND losing track of them does to a person's perception of the world and his knowledge/state of mind.

Just imagine a student of...

Re: installing Easy Debian v0.9.56-1fremantle1on nokia n900

That's probbaly not much of a problem in an english-speaking community with mostly non-native speakers. ;)
...although I must admit, the thought that whoever came up with that name actually knew...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

At least Galileo [1] and Beidou [2] are.
Afaik QZSS and NAVIC are not operational (yet), but from what I've heard, QZSS is technically very similar to GPS (signals, not orbits) and should therefore...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

Just out of curiosity - from the dev kit's specs:
Does anybody know, which GNSS besides GPS are supported?
I guess Glonass is included since I believe it is mandatory for manufacturers of GNSS...

Re: GPD Pocket

A Systemd dev would probably tell you now, that having such a GUI would be pointless, since on a properly configured system there's no time to see it anyway, and that the fact that you'd have the...

Re: GPD Pocket

Disclaimer:
It's been a long time since I used Fedora, so what I'll write here will probbaly be outdated or very generic.

Sounds like the common unexplicably dumb decision of Systemd devs to not...

Re: GPD Pocket

That's the same as in the GPD Pocket, isn't it?

I have no clue how that works. I'd guess it's probably a very tiny touchpad.

Indeed! I just wanted to bring this device up, in case someone knows...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

Found the problem!

As far as network infrastructure goes, Germany really is a developing country (sometimes I feel in the wrong direction).
There are regions right outside of Berlin, where there...

Re: GPD Pocket

I just stumbled upon this apparent GPD Pocket ripoff [1] via the Pyra forums [2].
It seems to be basically the same device while sacrificing some computing power, battery space and probably a useful...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

Depends on your perspective I'd think. At least in Orwell's dystopia "Die Gedanken sind frei" [1] - sort of.

Re: Nintendo Switch Runs Linux

At least for me (and I guess that's true for wicket too), getting Linux to run on it is part of the "gaming experience", maybe even the most important part of it.

It is fun to see if you can do it...

Re: The successor of Nokia N900 - Pyra (Well, sort of)

In German, we say that someone has a plank in front of his head, when we want to say that he's a blockhead.
That's what I always think about when I see someone filming with a tablet.

Re: The successor of Nokia N900 - Pyra (Well, sort of)

I'm aware of it - sort of. But thanks for the reminder anyways!
My problem is, that I need my N900 to be a working phone. (Currently) Leste can't give me that.
Unfortunately I'm in no position to...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

It's not meant o be one.
It just shows that "good quality" doesn't really matter, because most customers don't care which leads to manufacturers not having to focus on it.

Re: FM transmitter volume

I've made the experience that the volume of a N900's FM transmission seems to be lower if it is transmitted on a frequency that has a lot of white noise. This usually happens close to the frequencies...
