Re: The oblivious neighbors & a people-friendly GPS

So I take it that in the US you don't have a simplified geo-referencing system like the UK Ordnance Survey's National Grid coordinates? UK aware mapping software generally understands this. e.g....

Re: Encrypted partition

The main problem that concerns me is that failing to dismount a truecrypt volume before removing the card (or use USB cable) will make it impossible to remount the card.

The other...

Re: TrueCrypt

Maybe one day. For now you'll have to try using it from the command line :-(

Re: Encrypted partition

Done.

I'll follow how you get on with this as the two problems clearly have some shared characteristics. I did initially build and install a custom kernel, but as I have both N800 and N810 I...

Re: Encrypted partition

It is now possible to build TrueCrypt and use it with a standard OS2008 kernel. It requires the loading of the kernel module dm-mod.ko - which I've included in the deb. So if anyone would like to...

Re: ThoughtFix Interviews Nokia

Well as I'm sat here with one of each in front of me I actually feel quite privileged; but who wouldn't :-)

Now I think I'll sit and watch TV and drink a beer, oh and I'll take the N800 with me...

Re: ThoughtFix Interviews Nokia

Since reading ThoughtFix's post earlier in the week I've been mulling on what the alpha geeks are doing right now. To me an alpha geek is someone who takes the lastest stuff and does something new...

Re: SD card woes

The cards should disappear from the file manager when there is a USB connection to the PC. So I guess the problem is that they don't reappear when the cable is unplugged. Perhaps this suggests that...

Re: Having fun with the N800's camera

It would be nice to have a mirror view option. Or even make it the default when the camera is facing the user.

Not to flip what's sent, but so I don't go mad trying to get myself in the centre...

Re: WARNING : Nokia Online Shop UK

Well in that case UPS are useless too, since they didn't leave a card with me. But at least the online tracking made it clear that my N800 was at the depot.

Re: Having fun with the N800's camera

If you want a real challenge try shaving or combing your hair while looking at the image.

So why does a mirror swap left and right but not up and down? Perhaps Nokia have now solved this...

If my memory is right then Mike did get his 770 free. So perhaps in future many more folks will get them free too. (It could happen, consider OLPC)

Anyway, some of Mikes points aren't too...
