I took your advice and got another new in box N800 off e-bay for $150 shipped. I'm a happy camper. now my old "drunk" one will become a charging station for the extra battery

OK I had an N800 that recently displayed the rolling screen problem. Luckily my credit card company has a double the manufacturer warranty and is refunding the whole purchase price (about $200.)...

Than the easiest way would be to simply re-flash it with the latest firmware version. Be sure to backup first though as you'd lose any existing data on the IT

Yup that seems to have been the problem, for some reason my updates weren't notifying me so I did a manual today and borked it. All fixed now thanks to the suggestions here. Thanks all.

Actually this wasn't a reflash to Diablo, this was an upgrade within diablo (when you get the exclamation point at the top indicating a new update) I'll give the suggestions here a go and report...
