Re: File Manager / Image Viewer not showing the camera photos

I fixed this by using 'tracker-cfg' to add the Camera folder to 'WatchDirectoryRoots' (make sure to press save on the menu afterwards). You should also be able to do it by editing...

Re: Email from nokia care

Also the stylus he recommends wouldn't work if the screen were capacitive. You'd think they'd give those people at least a little bit of training before expecting them to hand out advice.

Re: HIGH CAPACITY BATT - 1930mAH GOLD BL-5J BUSINES BATTERY FOR NOKIA N900 X6 C3

It hasn't got anywhere near that capacity, look at dr_frost_dk's tests, but if you really want to try it, get it for £10 not £100...

Re: Programming digital compass

I think it would definitely make some noises apart from the FM white noise, but probably not a pure tone, and not from the speakers
For a point of reference, I reckon (assuming the N900...

Re: Is there anyway to prevent N900 from resetting when removing the battery?

Also try giving the gold bits on your sim card and phone a good clean with acetone or alcohol (isopropyl, not beer :-).

Re: Broken MicroUSB idea: Creating a new connection

That's an fbus or mbus connection, not USB, by the looks of it. I think your best bet is to solder to the red and black components as indicated in this image...

Re: rm rt*? went wrong! eMMC removed?

Do you mean 'rm -rf *'? If so you deleted everything under the folder you were in. 'rm rt*' would only remove filenames beginning in 'rt', which shouldn't be very much/anything.
If it was the former...

Re: NFSUC help

There's a program called 'Tracker Cfg' which lets you add directories to be excluded from the media search.

Re: My N900 nightmare, what can I do?

The flash on the N900 (and any decent flash memory) does 'wear leveling', so it writes to a different part of the physical flash each time, even when you attempt to force linux to write to the exact...

Re: My N900 dead at 14 months

If you've got a screen protector try taking it off. My touch screen stopped working completely once, and without the protector it has been working fine for months.

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

A large percentage of mobile apps will be possible in QML, as far as I understand it. It seems to be enough for the standard 'get data from $website -> fancy display' pattern that most mobile apps...

Re: Screen Protector or No Screen Protector?

That's the one I had. The bare screen has proved much more scratch resistant for me so far.

Those spare glass fronts from ebay look like a good option to me, given that they're about as much as a...

Re: Screen Protector or No Screen Protector?

I had a screen protector for a while, and it built up a few scratches (it wasn't one of the really cheap ones either) so I thought it was doing its job. One day the touchscreen suddenly stopped...

Re: help me decide my provider in the UK

The catch is that they don't really have any support except for their web forum, and they don't sell phones, so they have no call centre. AFAIK you can't call them at all. It's not really a problem...
