Re: Ad-Hoc restrictions in the USA ?

Yep - it's 100% software. I don't think the US has any regs against ad-hoc WiFi specifically; what I heard a few months ago was that the cellular connection + an ad-hoc WiFi connection together put...

Re: Ad-Hoc restrictions in the USA ?

If it's like the N9, it's based on the MCC (mobile country code) of the tower you're connected to when you boot the phone - not the SIM.

Symbian is dramatically less hackable than Linux/Harmattan,...

Re: INCEPTION 0.2.5: Assume direct control with PR1.3!

Try starting over from scratch - that is, install INCEPTION, run pasiv, incept aegisctl, run ariadne sh, and use aegisctl.

Re: INCEPTION 0.2.5: Assume direct control with PR1.3!

I discovered shortly after launching INCEPTION 0.2 that it wasn't actually compatible with old firmware versions (before PR1.2). I've released a new update, 0.2.5, which is intended to work on all...

[WARNING] Do not upgrade to PR1.3 over-the-air if you have a branded phone!

Once you do so, you won't be able to debrand your phone by flashing!

Instead, visit the flashing guide (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82693) and flash your phone with an 001 variant...

Re: The Tiny N9 PR1.3 Discussion Thread!

If you've already upgraded to PR1.3, then you have to downgrade to debrand. :( Changing the product code won't help, so don't bother with that. This is one of the reasons why I strongly advise...

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.3] [ui v1.2.5]

If you didn't sort this out already, I'd strongly suggest simply installing the module files twice - once into each kernel module directory. It's important that it not break during an upgrade from...

Re: INCEPTION 0.2: Assume direct control with PR1.3!

It seems that you're right. :( I'll see about getting the site back up - in the meantime, grab INCEPTION from C-OBS...

Re: N950 with really old firmware

I've figured out the custom user agent trick - I'll see about packaging it up, or at least writing a HOWTO, later this week. :)

This will be way easier than hacking away at the grob binaries,...

Re: [Announce] Harmattan repository for packages that need inception

It seems that Google thinks your site is infected - you might want to see about clearing that up.

Apart from that, it's good to see you got this up and running. :)

Re: Inception

Did you install the modded system-ui package? Replacing system packages with custom ones using INCEPTION tends to cause problems if you upgrade later. I'd suggest you download the PR1.3 firmware...

Re: N9 Encryption

It would be extremely awesome to have full-flash encryption on the N9, and there are ways it could be implemented, but it's not there yet and it would be a serious undertaking to change that. :(

I...

Re: Change hostname on N9 to my liking?

If you have INCEPTION 0.2 installed, you can change it immediately with ariadne hostname newname. Otherwise, rebooting with devel-su -c /sbin/reboot ought to do the trick.

Re: INCEPTION 0.2: Assume direct control with PR1.3!

Both of you really ought to cool it. :-|

The easiest approach is to reflash your N9 with the PR1.3 firmware image. Replacing system packages with INCEPTION - which is exactly what MohammadAG's...

Re: unpack firmware

It's possible to pack your own firmware images without any keys - the caveat is that flashing them will put your phone into open mode no matter what starting with the PR1.2 bootloader version.

The...

Re: The Mega Epic N9 PR1.3 Discussion Thread!

I'm getting a little bit tired of repeating this, given that the exact same things happened last time with PR1.2 - just download the firmware image and flash it. There's no disadvantage besides...

Re: The Mega Epic N9 PR1.3 Discussion Thread!

Seeing as the firmware is the same no matter the capacity/color, just download the image for another product code.

Re: New update! version: 40.2012.21-3

You're not the first to notice - this is the PR1.3 firmware update that everyone is going crazy about. :p

Make sure to load up the new INCEPTION release once you upgrade. :)

Re: INCEPTION 0.2: Assume direct control with PR1.3!

Use 'ariadne sh' anywhere you'd use 'opensh'. If you only need to run a single command, you can use 'ariadne <command>' instead.

Overclocking on PR1.3 is going to have to wait until Nokia produces...

Re: INCEPTION 0.2: Assume direct control with PR1.3!

If you installed opensh before, it's still there, though it would be a good idea to remove it for security reasons using dpkg -r opensh. ariadne is indeed the replacement for opensh - you can use...

Re: How to delete nitdroid?

Follow the N9 flashing guide stickied in this forum using the PR1.3 (40.x) region 001 image. This will overwrite NITDroid and return everything to normal.
