Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Well for me, N900 is the middle of the sea, Desktop is Brno the latter is possibly because there is no way to provide GPS data.

Never thought about a POI TBH, but yes I suppose a special Home POI...

Re: [Announce] Orecchiette - an all-purpose audio recording app

Worldwide shipping?

Alternatively maybe sourcing local OEM batteries is the way to go.

Re: [Announce] Orecchiette - an all-purpose audio recording app

Have a look for some polarcell batteries, they seem to be good quality and in stable supply at the moment.

Re: [Council] Coding Competition 2016

Not really there are packages even in Extras with mysterious undiagnosed issues.

I started a working list of "known broken packages" while I had time to package test, but please don't treat this...

Re: [Council] Coding Competition 2016

I would like to see a little emphasis on fixing some most wanted/popular packages from Extras.
We have a host of broken packages in our repos that possibly only need a bit of TLC.
Most people...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

One useful thing I would like to see in modRana is to "set home" in the settings.
Some way to have the map load at a preset location if there is no GPS fix.

I seem to find that modRana loads in...

Re: Cannot install Filebox

I completely agree.
You only have to browse the code of both to see how well coded hamsterfiler is.
I don't think hamsterfiler needs any updates but I am sure if required gidzzz would get round to...

Re: Cannot install Filebox

Filebox is no longer maintained.
I would recommend using hamsterfiler instead.

Re: x terminal w: GPG error: http://maemo-repos.com ./ release: following signatures were invalid: key expired 1349249546

Maybe it's time to mention that the application manager is the recommended way to update.

Also dist-upgrade is completely broken in Maemo and will cause dependency mess.
Time to reflash.

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

Re: 2G vs 3G and battery life

From experience I have no exact figures.
I find 2G only gives slightly better battery life than 3G only, this is over a long period of time locked in standby, on an N900 that uses no data.

I feel...

Re: What is the latest N900 firmware?

RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2 is PR 1.3
RX-51_2009SE_21.2011.38-1 is PR 1.3.1

Re: apt-get dist-upgrade unmet dependencies

Maemo was never "designed" to install packages from a terminal.
As always Hildon Application Manager is the official method of installing all updates.
It's not apt's fault and blocking it isn't...

Re: Disabling Automatic Rotation (N900-CSSU)

Yep, the best thing to do is reflash and start again, or suffer dependency chaos til the end of time.

Re: Idea: N900 security update (openssl, browser etc)

Thank you for your post.

I actually feel this is the sort of thing CSSU-Stable is for.
Stable - the "LTS" of Maemo.
I don't see the reason for the additional repository.

As long as...

Re: What is ubuntu 13.10 password for root?

With Ubuntu root doesn't work like that.
You need an admin account and use the admin accounts password.

Root password is locked, you need to use sudo "command" then enter the admins user password.
