Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

I think we could start by migrating the devices from https://maemo-leste.github.io/ to the wiki.

I'll take care of the initial pages for the N950 and N9 as I'm doing the ports.

I think we...

Re: Hackathons ...good or bad? 2 sociologists came to a conclusion and it ain't good.

Although it has FOSS components, Fremantle was never really a FOSS project.

Having said that, I'd argue that it didn't die. It has lived on through CSSU and has now been given a new lease of life...

I thought I'd share some news which I'm genuinely very excited about...

Incoming and outgoing calls are working with mainline Linux (on the Droid 4)....

Re: selling 3x Nokia N950 and 1x GPD Pocket

Did you ever find out what exactly is the difference between the RM-690 and a standard RM-680? Is it using the same version of Harmattan or a different version?

Could you please post the output...

Re: Palm OS Open Source Edition

Apparently with Open Huevos, HP only open sourced bit and pieces (https://pivotce.com/2018/03/19/open-source-webos-now-brought-to-you-by-lg/) (Huevos Revueltos) and the new Huevos Open Source Edition...

Re: Palm OS Open Source Edition

Click bait warning, very misleading!

Palm OS != webOS

Anyway, so we now have webOS Open Source Edition as well as Open webOS. Very confusing. Let's just call it Testicles (huevos is Spanish...

Re: Is it helpfull for us? Kali Linux now available for download from Microsoft Store

Yes, it's still WIP but the N900 kernel for Leste includes patches for PVR.

The Wi-Fi driver might be open source but the firmware is still non-free...

Re: Is it helpfull for us? Kali Linux now available for download from Microsoft Store

The only closed parts are PowerVR drivers, Wi-Fi firmware and Bluetooth firmware. The closed firmwares will work with recent mainline kernels. PowerVR is working with patches which are unlikely to...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Thank you endsormeans, that's very kind of you to offer, but let's just hold off for the moment though. After shipping and import duty, it often works out cheaper to get hold of one locally. So...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

I stand corrected. The 770 and N8x0 all have an 800x480 display, the same as the N900.

Also there are already DTs in mainline for all 3 N8x0 devices (I should've known this, they are linked to in...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

I would say yes. Leste support largely depends on mainline Linux support. There is mainline Linux support for all 3 N8x0 devices, and the 770, although I don't know what state they are in. Support...

Re: Introducing ubiboot N9 (multiboot OS loader)

Sounds to me like a mismatch between the kernel and the module. I couldn't find any kernel modules within the cpio archive or ubifs so my guess is that these are coming from the rootfs of Harmattan...

Re: Introducing ubiboot N9 (multiboot OS loader)

I've added support for additional kexec options. That will allow you to specify an initrd image in ubiboot.conf.

I also replaced the Ubuntu graphic for a Maemo Leste graphic. ;)

Let's see if...

Re: Introducing ubiboot N9 (multiboot OS loader)

Thanks juiceme!

I didn't even realise there were Git or Subversion repositories. I found the source directory (http://www.swagman.org/juice/ubiboot/source/) and thought that was all there...

Re: Introducing ubiboot N9 (multiboot OS loader)

Try the following:

ifconfig enp0s29 up 192.168.2.1

That ought to bring up the USB interface on the same subnet as the N9.

No. They are using mainline plus a few patches. postmarketOS on N9 is currently configured to build 4.15.rc6, the config file says...

Re: Fremantle porting - getting organised

The problem is that modern websites use features that require a web browser of memory usage that exceeds the 256MB of RAM of the N900. Your choices here are simple:

Use a modern web browser...
