Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris

@zeefung: based on your impressions this seems to be a small update after all, at least in terms of a general Portrait mode. I was hoping I could finally operate my Phone (note how I don't say...

Re: why i love n900 more than iphone

no, fifa 2000 is too old a game to be of any interest. The teams are oudated so they won't run on the latest nokia hardware.

Re: Naked N900, Invisible Shield or screen cover.

I have a screen cover and use the official nokia leather case to carry around - not the best outer protection there is but it was the only one i found at the store.

If you are interested in a technical answer...

Well it depends really.

If Winmo7 mobile supports the same version of OMAP as the N900 has it could function in some sort of alternative boot...

Re: Someone said there's a big update in March, why nothing so far?!

I have thought of it but

a) no idea what the risks are and how painful it will be

b) backing up individual data..contacts, messaging etc, is that even possible?

I know contacts export to...

Re: Someone said there's a big update in March, why nothing so far?!

Usable it is, fun, not so sure. In a desperate effort to keep rootfs "clean" and spacey in wait for PR 1.2 , I have yet to install anything new since the last minor update. Not only that, I have also...

Re: MMS - is it true - will not be supported by Nokia.

Considering the power of the platform I see no other reason besides laziness in creating an integrated MMS solution. I mean how hard can it be for Nokia?

The N900 may be an internet tablet but the...

Re: what was your phone before n900??

SE P990, SE P800 before it and Nokia 7110 before that (and a 3210 when I was a kid). I change phones every 3-4 years.

Arrow Real cursor in MicroiB

This might be documented but I am making this thread to inform all those who like myself, did not know that the MicroB has a real pointer function.

Re: N900 on the road, please share your experience and tips

It's not the easiest navigator but with some experience and skilled driving/one hand phone navigation (which is almost non existent on the n900), you can eventually find your way.

One handed...

Re: N900-the only Maemo5 device

Correct me if I m wrong, but I think it is natural that Nokia's future "mobile computers" will be based on the portable x86 architecture rather than OMAP.

The fact that nothing has been announced...

@egoshin

Cheers mate, you're a life-saver =) No side effects so far!

may I suggest apt-get autoremove after that for clearing up some space?

Re: Root space - What is "optifying"?

Is there a command to list the files/folders saved in rootfs? I am at 38MB free despite having removed almost everything. It's really annoying that I have no control over what hogs my rootfs.

Re: Firmware 3.2010.02-08 new issues?

Re: Not Enough Memory in Target Location Error

to be clear, you need >=42MB of memory. I had the same issue until I emptied enough space.

From what I hear the next update will require about 42MB as well, which is currently an issue for me...

Re: Firmware 3.2010.02-08 new issues?

Yes, I did have subtitle support installed.

I uninstalled it in an effort to open space up in rootfs, no idea what files are optified really.

Where does the subtitle support reside? in rootfs...
