Re: What do you think of the resistive touch screen?

Are there particular screens that people can recommend? I was surprised to read all the compliments on this threat about the touchscreen sensitivity and accuracy. I have problems with both, and I...

Re: How do you turn of or edit the system sounds

Hi, I just got my N900 the other day. Is there any way to make the entire unit completely silent? I have gone into profiles and turned everything off, but there is still the startup song and I hear...

Re: Is it possible for N900 to use another phone as a 3G modem over bluetooth?

Hello, just checking in to see if there is any way to get this done for a non-techie. I can tell just by reading the back-and-forth that it looks beyond my technical capabilities. I have been...

Re: N900 tethered as *Bluetooth* modem - full solution?

Correct; I want to use the Sprint phone as the internet source. As for joikuspot, I haven't tried it, but I have read that it is a serious battery hog. With just using BT DUN from my Sprint phone,...

Re: N900 tethered as *Bluetooth* modem - full solution?

Checking again for any update for a prepackaged solution? I want to get the N900 but I want to get my internet from my Sprint phone.......and I can tell that those instructions are beyond my...

Re: N900 tethered as *Bluetooth* client - full solution?

I second this request, I am just not computer literate enough to feel confident about doing it on my own. I plan to get a N900, but I am waiting until I know I can reliably get internet on the N900...

Re: N900 and *Bluetooth* tethering - full solution

I'm in the same boat, although I want the BT tether, not just USB. Any thoughts from those who now have the N900 in their hands?

Re: Apple Ipod Touch

I have a 32gb Touch that I use for travel, but I always end up taking my N810 with me anyway. And it's the N810 I keep with me on a daily basis, not the touch.

The lack of BT mentioned previously...

Sony Mylo 2

I picked up one of these after seeing it had 800x480 instead of the crappy resolution of the original.

I really like the keyboard, and I think the touchscreen is a little sharper. It's also a...

Ok, now I really do wish the N810 had the SD slots on the N800

At first I didn't care so much, since the N800 only supported standard SD cards natively (I'm not tech savvy enough for anything but minor things). But then I got the 2008 upgrade so my N800s now...

Re: External battery pack for N8x0/770.

Hi, I figured I'd report on what I use, since it took a while to find it. I wanted a retractable cable, and the Nokia seems picky about them. After trying some from eBay, I found that this one...

Help--Mplayer loading for non-techies

Hello, I've searched high and low but I can't seem to find a place to download Mplayer in a package that's easy to install on my N800 and N810 (both with OS 2008), along with instructions on how to...

N800 too bright after 2008 OS install

So I decided to finally update my firmware from the NokiaUSA site, and it gave me the 2008 OS, so now it's the same as on my N810. But now it won't go as dark as it used to, I guess because on the...

Re: what about those archos?

I have the 605 wifi. The browser is an ok add-on feature, but it's not good enough to make me carry it instead of my 810.

Re: How to come to terms with the N810's shortcomings:

Bottom line is that I choose to take it over the 800 everywhere I go. That means despite its flaws I see it as an overall step forward.

Re: mp4 video playback capabilities?

Hello, what are you using to transcode? I've tried Dr. Divx (original) and Divx Converter, neither worked. Thanks!

Re: Cowon Q5W

Got the Q5w yesterday. Sure is a sweet device. Movies look fantastic, plays divx flawlessly. Web surfing is pretty speedy, maybe faster than the 810, and more satisfying than the Archos 605. But...

Is surfing really slower on 810 vs 800?

Seems that way, but I haven't done a direct comparison. It could just be that the 810 browser seems to wait a little then display a chunk of stuff, whereas the 800 starts displaying right as stuff...

Which is the latest, safe OS for the N800?

I held off on getting the update due to the SD card bricking issues. Has that been resolved? I've been looking forward to not having to press the screen so hard, which I think was resolved in one...

I have always left the username and password blank, that has worked on the 770, 800, and now 810.

N810--GPRS or Data call for phone internet?
