In past month, I replaced battery, and have same issue. Your proximity cable was broken. I oredered one proximity cable & replace and device working as new.

I got many asking for permission to be friend which I was confirmed in Gajim and N9, so on N900 conntacts just appear by name and avatar, and i can send and recive fb message.

Gajim transport numbers to names and avatars..

1. install extraplugins for chat
2. im message-new services -jabber
3.your jabber acc & pass and server : jabber.no-sense.net
4.install gajin on windows and...

When you tried the login to fb app, app constantly searched for a pass (pass icorect or something).. Now app work just worked first day :D

is it safe to flash with 001 variant? or that will produced blocked phone, boot loop etc.

gmail -> working (manual setup)
gtalk -> working jabber setup
fb -> stup via jabber, but ask wrong pass ?!

for jabber you must install Extraplugins for Accounts UI
