Re: Help, Canola problems, close to giving up on N800

No, General, it wasn't just this one package, one time. You've been around here long enough to know that there have been many problems with repositories, and I've had plenty of them personally....

Re: Help, Canola problems, close to giving up on N800

I installed the Canola UPNP plugin, but it still doesn't see UPNP feeds. Is UPNP still broken in Canola?

Red face Help, Canola problems, close to giving up on N800

I had fun with the N800 when I first got it, but I'm at the point of giving up on it and chucking it in a drawer forever. The problem is repositories: seemed like a good idea at first, but boy is the...

Canola 2 Beta 11 dependencies

Ok, I'm guilty of not doing updates for several months, but I thought I'd update Canola 2 on my N800 today. Yikes, there must be 60 unresolved dependencies when I try to install it. That's way too...

Re: [canola],[vegalume] Last.fm is pulling the plug

It's even worse: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/25/lastfm_paywall/

Last.fm is apparently shifting to a paid-subscription-only service for most countries.

I was playing around with internet radio on the N800 yesterday, and I was a little surprised that there doesn't seem to be one app that combines convenient searching with an informative display.

Re: Announced today Video Chat in G Talk

Wow, this is dumb. Google Chat with video on my N800, now Google Chat with video on my PC - but they are incompatible and can't call each other!

Re: Downloadable content ala kindle?

wowio is currently a USA-only site, as are almost all sites that sell ebooks with DRM.

I see that wowio is currently showing a page that says they are revamping their service to go global, so I...

Re: Downloadable content ala kindle?

The Economist is available in PDF format from their web site if you have a subscription, and copies usually show up in other places as well. You may need to use evince to view it instead of the...

Re: how to sync gpe calander with pc?

If you are going in one direction, from Google Calendar to gpe Calendar, you can just set up a Subscribe link to Google Calendar's ics page under Tools - Calendars in gpe Calendar.

Re: The n800: Ultimate Computer for Air Travel

Might once have been true, but no longer. Google "aeronautical" and "SiRFStar III". Convergence.

Theoretically true, but the effect is not very significant with modern GPS chipsets, and hard...

Re: The n800: Ultimate Computer for Air Travel

Sounds plausible, but not really. The position fixing firmware is all built into the GPS chipset - probably one of the same chipsets that's used in airborne GPS receivers. Wouldn't be much use if it...

N8x0 Maemo vs. Windows Mobile 6

I've been setting up a new smartphone with Windows Mobile 6 over the past few days, and it's made me think about the initial user experience compared to Maemo on my N800.

I'm far from a novice...

Re: ANNOUNCE: Mephemeris - Astronomy Program

Very nice. Now could you add a function to hack into the city power grid and turn off the power so that us big-city dwellers could actually see the real night sky? :D
