Re: The new QWERTY device project

Not realistic without a huge company/dollars backing it.

* iMx8 is not ready yet. The first units will start to be available in the beginning of 2018, and seeing how the whole electronics industry...

Re: Swipe down--what are these things?

To understand the ambiance concept, you have to remember the Sailfish 1.0 version, before they broke some usability and consistency on the interface:

Re: Swipe down--what are these things?

Welcome to sailfish !

If you are interested, you can read some of the former UI designer (Jaakko Roppola) articles on his blog, for first hand reason why things were done this way.

in the case...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

Anything is possible, but in that case, a lot of manufacturers would be in trouble and Purism would be the last of them, as iMx6 are used in everything from cars to medical devices.

As the iMx6 is...

Re: My vision for the future of Maemo Fremantle

Ho, I didn't explained myself correctly... Hamming distance is an abstract mathematical concept, not something you use directly. But it is the theory behind checksums.
And as said, I don't know how...

Re: Mapbox GL Native QML plugin

Thanks for the answer, I understand now that you were talking of the OpenGL standard.
Interesting to see that debugging is a first class citizen on the newer versions.

Re: My vision for the future of Maemo Fremantle

Surprising ?

Yeah btrfs can probably recover a lot more than a few bits (never looked at how it works), but what he is saying for "non trivial amount of errors", doesn't seem wrong, and is related...

Re: Mapbox GL Native QML plugin

Alright. At least we tried ! Thanks for the time you spent on this.

Just to understand, what do you call a "standard" in this context ? A version of the mapbox GL renderer ? Of the Qt API for...

Re: Mapbox GL Native QML plugin

It is like the previous tests:
* Works perfectly with red map
* Crash when zooming in/moving fast the normal map

However, that must be the first useful error message I got since the start of...

Re: Mapbox GL Native QML plugin

I tested with this new simple QML app, and first comment is that it looks great ! It is fast (no visible lags, adapts quite well to the zoom level), so a big applause once more to have been able to...

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

Just tested it for two minutes without any crash !

So it works on the Jolla 1 with this style.

So the crash we had before could be related to GPU memory exhaustion when using the full style,...

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

No problem to test !

So, first removing all previous *mapbox* programs, changing the repo to maps-debug, and installing the new version (pkcon install.... like previous tries), I still get a crash...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

Indeed, but there are not only architecture changes :
only the higher range of iMx6 features the 4 cores, most only have one or two, whereas this mid range iMx8M have 4 cores. I can't find where I...

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

Yes, me too. I hope it is only something wrong on my phone, but I doubt it. We'll see when another J1 user will test it.

Searching a little, I found that : https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/ARM...

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

Good ! That is indeed a good idea to test the limits of the Jolla.

However, I was able to run it before, but can't with the version.
As I couldn't make sense of it, I first rebooted, then seeing...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

I never used an iMx8 which is still a future product that is not yet available widely. I have however used a bit the iMx6.

It would be difficult to compare it to snapdragons and other chipsets...

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

Probably too late and maybe not that useful, I found that Qt has a dedicated C++ class to handle the "panning, flicking and pinch-to-zoom" gestures in their map object :...

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

I think you are mistaken, my problem is only a lack of design skills, not missing tools like the map style editor which in fact I used :D (Mapbox studio)
When I have something functional, I'll try...

Re: Purism Librem Phone

Do you have details on the librem5 implementation to back those claims ?
I didn't find much on this, except that the iMx6/8 doesn't exist with integrated baseband, so it will by design be separated....

Re: App for vector renderer maps, using OpenGL ES 2.0

I am no specialist of Python, so I took a look on the net, and saw that some people are registering objects to QML from python, like we do in C++:
QtDeclarative.qmlRegisterType(Graph, 'myPyQtGraph',...

So far, I had only be playing with your demo app, making some changes here and there to so see what it could do, but I have now started to work on a real use case of the qml...
