Re: [Announce] BackupMenu - OS backup & restore | New version - Jul 9th(v1.1)

Is the kernel-power version you're installing the same as on the backup image? If not then you'll be missing the correct modules and a reboot loop would be a likely result.

Re: How to install dictionaries for QStarDict ?

Both MStarDict and QStarDict use standard stardict format dictionaries. Unfortunately most/all of the original sites containing these have gone/been taken offline, but you can search online for any...

Re: Council election

I think you need to look at the ARM tree within the kernel. Getting things working for one specific ARM processor will get not get you very far at all with the next one. Unlike the x86 world, there's...

Re: App request:Devils Pie

I don't see how this would work with Maemo at all.

All applications run full-screen under Maemo, and the desktops are purely for widgets/shortcuts. They're nothing like the virtual desktops used...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

The micro USB charging standard requires the data pins to be shorted. Unfortunately most 3rd party chargers don't do this, so the N900 won't charge with them. You may be able to open them up and...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Testing

You'll need the modules to be able to actually boot with KP49, but you're probably okay without the settings.

Re: U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu

I think you need to add:
ITEM_CMDLINE="root=${EXT_CARD}p6"

or wherever the Nemo partition is.

Re: U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu

All I had to pass in was the normal root=/dev/mmcblk0pX argument to tell it which partition to boot to.

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

Yes, I've just tried this and the only feeds in the reader after a reflash are the two default ones (a couple of twitter feeds). The feed I'd added manually prior to the reflash was gone (as I'd...

Re: the effect of smartreflex on N900 battery usage

OC should save power on high-load time-independent processes. If it can complete the process in a shorter time, then it can switch back to a lower power mode quicker. Playing a video is...

It's working fine for me. Have you tried removing the /home/user/.cloudgps/config.ini file? Otherwise, try running it from the command line & post the output (or check the main cloudgps thread to see...

Re: Packages are kept back

You can upgrade those packages by specifically asking to install them e.g.:
apt-get install libqtm-12

They're usually held back either because they require installing additional package, or...

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

There's absolutely no way that CSSU has any effect on what's seen after flashing. If you reflashed both eMMC and firmware then the OS will have access to exactly the same data whether it's running...

Re: Earlier at the construction site in the forehead by steel plate touch, n900 have no hardware equipment can detection range?

There's a proximity sensor, but I think that's far too short range for what you're suggesting. There's an infrared transmitter, but I don't think there's a receiver at all (and it's not in a...

The "Thanks" button isn't present (by design) in some of the forums (Off-Topic, for one). I'm not sure why it's not appearing on every post in this thread though.

Re: [Announce] CSSU Testing thread

If you flashed both eMMC and firmware then there definitely shouldn't be any feeds (or anything else) left. If you just reflashed the firmware then I'd expect all the feeds to remain, as they're...

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)

I think the issue is that a number of developers have stopped development on the N900 as soon as they got an N9/N950. While the N950 may be a reasonable replacement for the N900, the N9 (which is all...

Re: How can I solve this problem ? ?? Who could teach me ...

Yep, that'd do it - you reset the permissions on everything under /usr/bin, stripping off the SUID bit from sudo (and various others). I'd definitely suggest a reflash at this point (and avoiding...

Re: How can I solve this problem ? ?? Who could teach me ...

If you have ssh installed & setup for root access, then you should be able to get on via that and reset the suid bit on /usr/bin/sudo. You could also try using "su" - I think you'll need to have set...

Re: [Announce] NEW Backupmenu-multiboot and new multiboot 0.2.11 ( update )

You need to install them via dpkg/apt-get on the command line - App Manager refuses to install these packages as they're not tagged as user packages.

What problem exactly? The package is out of date now, and should be removed and replaced with the normal libwrt1 package. Unfortunately there's not a clean upgrade path, so you need to uninstall it...
