Ah! So that is how you got your new device. Here also they usually wont give a replacement. But let me give it a try. You never know.
But, again, like 3 weeks without a mobile like n900 is way too...

Thanks JonWW for the wonderful reply. I went to the Authorised Nokia Care Centre near my place. In India, there is no concept of online status or tracking. We have to personally go to the Nokia Care...

So, you say that I have to look at some way in which I can get myself a new device??
What will I do when the phone is with the customer service centre??? Will they give a temporary replacement?

Yep, I do have the latest firmware PR 1.2
Moreover, I had been to the customer service centre and they really do not have much clue about N900 and Maemo. I told them that flashing the firmware...

I bought N900 in India and flashed the global firmware... There is no problem with flashing the same.
And There is again no difference between the Global and Indian firmware except for skype. :)

You just have to connect your N900 to the PC in Mass storage mode and then take backup of your Videos, Pictures etc.
Videos will be in .videos & Pictures will be in DICM folder once you connect to...

I bought my N900 here in India and I am extremely happy. But the Indian firmware did not have Skype because of some regulation issues. So I downloaded and flashed the global firmware....

I have the same problem here. I guess it is the problem from the operator/tower. Just call ur customer service they will surely help you out. The problem on your side is that right now both dont work...

Yes. Now taking everything into consideration, I can understand that N900 does support both Data and Cellular together. But I am surprised that this works in Kollam (Kerala) and not in Bangalore...

Oh! I thought it did because, In Kerala, India i was able to use both Data and Call simultaneously!
Data never used to get disconnected whenever i received a Call or SMS :)

Here is what you can do:
1. First reset the "Device Lock" code to 1234 from Menu > Settings > Device Lock
2. Flash your N900's FIASCO/rootfs image from here...
