I think you are naive if you think "Nokia" (or part of the board) did not/does not have interests in Jolla.
What about all the Nokia IP that is a simple evolution of Meego/Maemo that Jolla uses?

Either way, I am still curious about who is backing Jolla. Part of me wants to believe that not all in the Nokia board were happy with the decision to sell and Jolla...

I am not sure that the phone being locked has anything to do with firmware - at least for Symbian, if you had a operator branded AND locked device, you could flash a generic firmware with no problems...
