Re: Absolutely Positively No Downgrade?

I do have another N9, which is in closed mode on PR1.3 region 001 - there are hints in this thread that it may be possible to use this to "downgrade" a localised N9 to region 001, but no link to...

Re: Absolutely Positively No Downgrade?

What can I do if I have a 339 (Swedish) N9 with PR1.3? I've spent quite some time searching but have been unable to find this firmware, and the 001 version gives "Downgrade disallowed". Only good for...

Re: Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

To put these figures into perspective, a single LED typically draws about 0.05W. And I mean the small red/yellow/green indicator type LEDs you'll find on the front of a lot of consumer electronics....

Re: Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

Also, am I the only one who is still astonished by the stupendously low stand-by power usage of the N9? When I checked the battery monitor app in the pub earlier I got a warning: "Idle power drain...

Re: Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

FWIW, I just got back after ~12h out and about, during which I used my N9 with the PolarCell battery. Happy to say I had no issues with spontaneous reboots or shut-downs, so that does seem to have...

Re: Nokia Name to Return to Smartphones in Bet on Brand’s Power

No. It's an "intelligent" bathroom scale. As in infuriatingly stupid, ugly and intrusive.

An intelligent bathroom scale wouldn't waste its time weighing people.

"Intelligent" bathroom scales to carry the Nokia Name in Bet on Brand’s Power.

No really (http://uk.businessinsider.com/nokia-to-buy-withings-for-191-million-2016-4?r=US&IR=T).

Next: a 24k gold...

Re: Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

I thought PolarCell was supposed to be one of the better aftermarket batteries? I'm not sure I'd want to buy an original battery even if it's unused, since these will have been sitting on a shelf for...

Re: Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

Ok, third time lucky; I opened the phone again and took a look at the battery connector under the microscope. I'm pretty sure I found the problem: the PolarCell battery actually has the wrong...

Re: Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

Nope, spoke too soon: just took the phone out of my pocket and it was switched off again - this time it didn't ask for time & date though. Battery shows 58% charge. What's going on here?

Question Replaced battery, N9 now spontaneously reboots

I replaced the (original) battery in my trusty N9 today, with a new PolarCell N9/Lumia 800 battery. Remarkably, the old battery was still ok-ish, but I figured it had to be due for replacement after...

Re: Nokia Name to Return to Smartphones in Bet on Brand’s Power

Agreed. I also think it wasn't so much that MeeGo and Qt was a "burning platform" as it was that it was too good. A very slick OS built with a nicely integrated framework & UI toolkit, which is still...

Re: Nokia Name to Return to Smartphones in Bet on Brand’s Power

Reminds me of this fine example of what happens when the "money men" take over. Or "Captains of Industry" as they like to refer to themselves in their Rayndian wet dreams.

Nokia Name to Return to Smartphones in Bet on Brand’s Power

Can you believe these f*****g clowns? Reduced to pump & dump using Chinese handsets & spyware from Mountain View. Conmen, thugs and thieves the lot of them.

I think I just died a little again...

Re: [Announce] MeeCell (cellular net monitor for Harmattan)

This looks like a great little app! But to be even more useful it would be great if it could show this information for all available networks, not just the one you're connected to. I've just moved...

Re: So... Microsoft finally purchases Nokia.

The writing was on the wall for some time:

Re: Ultimate Hacking device.

Look good. That thing is so ugly I wouldn't want it even if it could do all the things the N900 can. Which it can't.

Re: Recommended open source groupware for N9 compatibility?

Either people fear getting a knock on the door, or no-one here is running their own groupware server - both of which would be unsatisfactory and unlikely explanations for the lack of responses! So...

Exclamation Recommended open source groupware for N9 compatibility?

Ok, so Google, Microsoft, et.al. have finally been caught with their hand so far down the cookie jar only their legs are sticking out - for example, Microsoft apparently broke the encryption on...
