you need to enable extras-devel repo to get access to freoffice
(and yes it is on purpose that I don't include more information).
Research how to add repositories - read the warnings - etc...

I've observed three nice changes:
1 the yellow volume graphics (when turning sound up/down) does not seem to make the N900 stutter anymore
2 portrait to landscape (and reverse) seems much snappier...

If you do a backup of your phone, your application list is saved. So if you do a format and restore a backup, the programs will be reinstalled (directly from the app catalog, not from a local store...
