Older hardware does not support XC. I dont know if the N800 will or not, but it predates the XC specs. According to wikipedia - XC compatible devices did not start appearing until 2010.

edit: To qualify that -the screen cable bends each time you slide the two halves of your computer... its a moving part - the only moving part really. And...

Interesting! Found my video lead and the video output is rock solid.... so it may be the screen after all!
Any thoughts? (I'm not familiar on how the composite output is generated, but I guess...

Had the screen assembly off and cables seem fine.
Overnight it got worse.... but I've put a light blue theme on and can use most windows...whenever there is black down the right hand side it seems...

Thanks Peter - I had seen that thread but it looked like a slightly different problem to be honest - or maybe worse. But then my machine is gettining worse all the time.

I've had it two years now - and love it. (Can't find another phone on the market that I would replace it with... come on Nokia get your focus right again!)

It means that you dont need to use Pecan at all - you just configure as a standard jabber/xmpp connection which the N900 supports brilliantly out of the box.
