Re: Handtec sourced N9 crashes thread

For potential alternatives in the UK, PurelyGadgets and Expansys both have some in stock (though in the case of expansys, only 16GB).
PurelyGadgets have low numbers of stock of all 3 16GB models and...

Re: Nokia spending big bucks on MeeGo

The point is more, no Nokia have not spend 4 billion dollars on R&D developing Meego last year.
The article, being engadget, utterly misses the fact that nokia do more than develop Symbian and Meego...

Re: Big Problem - locked phone wont flash....

64-bit versions of windows wont let you flash properly due to an issue with the flasher and the required 64-bit USB driver - You'll need to either use a 32-bit machine, or simply use a Linux livecd...

Re: You've got $1000 USD, which tablet would you buy or wait for and why?

I bought an nTablet for a fair bit less than that (same reference design as the Tegatech Tega v2 and Viewsonic 10, among others) running win7, and it suits my needs nicely (Froyo on big tablets...

Re: lock/unlock you car with n900 is that possible ?

A thread about this from a while ago is here:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=58257

TL : DR: You won't be able to unlock the car's built-in remote unlock system. To get any form of...

They are now one in the same. The package you're after is:

It works perfectly well to sync your...

Re: Nokia can't Fix N900's Screen

Most N900 hardware errors tend to result in a replacement rather than a repair.
It's not that they cant fix it (the screen is replaceable), its probably just easier and cheaper to ship a new device...

Re: New N900 user - Flash?

If you bought the device used and it didnt have a clean OS install on it, reflash the device first and foremost.

Re: root is not in the sudoers file. Funny.

You can thank crypt + DES for that, it's cryptographically pathetic and limited to 8 characters.

Re: Will you be buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab?

Products go wrong, it happens. It's how they deal with it afterwards that matters really. In Samsung's case, this has always been excellent for me - I bought a new Samsung TV last year, after about 2...

Re: Will you be buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab?

No.

7" is too small for a tablet imo, and Android (2.2 at least) isnt very good for any kind of actual productivity on a tablet.
Also, it's laughably expensive.

Re: Who said Nokia did not do false advertising? look at this

The competition is just as "lacking". Google maps (Android) requires a connection to download maps as well as route etc (Ovi on the N900 only actually needs data transfer for searches, maps and...

Re: Who said Nokia did not do false advertising? look at this

Your analogy is apt, but only because it's actually correct and totally goes against the point you were making.
In the UK, almost every car is marketed with an "on the road" price - This is the cost...

Re: I'm Porting Blackberry Messenger on the N900

Re: my maemo os is destroyed

Yes - The backup's stored to the emmc so isnt overwritten by reflashing, when you've got the device back up if you simply load up the backup application itll be there ready to restore.

Do be aware...

Re: my maemo os is destroyed

Well your apps are gone, youll need to reinstall them after flashing. You will however retain most of your apps' settings as for the most part their config files get written to the emmc, which...

Re: How to send fax from N900?

This does work fine, its essentially just a question of lack of interest (presumably) to develop software - Back in 2007 ish Nokia licensed and rebranded a third-party tool that allows you to send...

Re: Can I update without using the PC Suite mode?

You can do an OTA upgrade if you remove the incompatible packages it has problems with. It's most likely to be libgles1 used by at least one game, you can check this by looking at the update details...

Re: some questions from a potential buyer: multi-boot, MeeGo, USB host, overclocking

Re: some questions from a potential buyer: multi-boot, MeeGo, USB host, overclocking

I'm not fully sure what point you're making - Whether the lack of a feature is "for the best" or "a fast dying feature" or "could totally be added" the fact remains those features arent there.
I was...

Re: some questions from a potential buyer: multi-boot, MeeGo, USB host, overclocking

Just a note on that, your E90 probably has a duff battery if that's the kind of life you get out of it - Mine lasted (and still does) 4-7 days per charge depending on usage, with wifi and bluetooth...
