Re: New Jolla/Meego forum

A small company could probably survive on N900 or N9 sales numbers, certainly on Lumia 900 numbers. They just can't keep a monster like Nokia going. Jolla/Meego won't have generate billions to...

Re: New Jolla/Meego forum

Understandable. But Tizen seems pretty stagnant (correct me if I'm wrong). AFAIK that's the only Jolla forum up and running so far. And I'd really likely to see an underdog like Jolla/Meego kick...

Re: New Jolla/Meego forum

I don't think it's official as in 'run by Jolla'. But if we want Jolla/Meego to succeed it needs any and all the support it can get.

Re: Sad news; Nokia apparently killed Meltemi

No offense taken here. Bush would be fun to have a few beers with and talk baseball, but being born a Bush and hopping around as a male cheerleader doesn't make a good president. He was horrible -...

Re: Sad news; Nokia apparently killed Meltemi

Qt will survive as long as KDE has a significant user base. Nokia will survive as either a division or puppet of M$. But RIM is already toast, another Palm.

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

M$ would NEVER let that happen.

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

It's simple. Doesn't matter if Nokia is running out of cash or what the market share of WP is. M$ will do and/or spend whatever it takes to keep Nokia - and so by extension WP - alive. Failure of...

Re: The N900's Best Android Alternative

Tegra II processor, typical Samsung cheap plastic build, and worst of all friggin' Touchwiz UI. I'll pass. No support for T-Mobile data anyway.

Re: The Epic Android Thread

IMHO, in 5 years you might think very differently. Mobile is the future, but regular desktops/laptops still have lotsa legs, especially for business and MS still utterly dominates there. By...

Re: HP keeping WebOS after all, making it open-source to the community

Yeah, you hit on 2 major points I was wondering about...

1. Is WebOS now ALL open, or is it like Maemo and Android - sorta open, that is, open except for the parts that aren't? I haven't found a...

Re: The Epic Android Thread

From the perspective of a Maemo/Meego fan, absolutely. Long-term business-wise maybe not. When M$ brings out Win8 and the MS Market things will change drastically. Unfortunately.

Sent from HTC...

Re: The Epic Android Thread

Although better, the openess of Maemo is also questionable. That is, in both cases they are open except for some parts that aren't.

For now at least, Android is the 'most open' mobile OS I can...

Re: The Epic Android Thread

Not counting tablets, to me the top Android units available or about to be released and key differences are (in no particular order):

1. Nexus - Vanilla ICS 4.0 but no removable storage.
2....

Re: ICE Cream sandwich Could this kill n9 before it is really out there?

y
The RAZR has already been confirmed to get ICS. HTC has said it will upgrade as many devices as possible to ICS - whatever that means. Google says ICS can theoretically run on any device running...

Re: Meltemi - Lightweight Linux based os from Nokia

I would like to take this discussion of mobile and static systems farther but this is getting pretty far off topic for this thread. Probably more appropiate to continue here......

You're ignoring key differences in how MS desktop and mobile products have been marketed (both in the past and present) and how they will be marketed in the future.

Til now, they have been...

Re: Meltemi - Lightweight Linux based os from Nokia

The game will change radically after Win8 is released and MS uses literally billions of desktops as leverage into the mobile arena.

Re: Meltemi - Lightweight Linux based os from Nokia

Doesn't matter, still way too early in the mobile battle. MS has more cards to play, a good long-range strategy and LOTSA money to spend. They are determined, well financed bulldogs. It will be at...

Re: Meltemi - Lightweight Linux based os from Nokia

Personally, I have no real interest in another closed OS controlled by Nokia, Elop and MS. They will never allow any Linux OS they control to be capable enough to threaten WinPhone.

Give me real,...

Re: Windows 8 & WinPhone - how to counterstrike?

The desktop already is and will continue to be a place for 'apps'. Most people install lotsa apps on their computers, just not from 'app stores' like they do their mobile devices. That's gonna...
