Re: I cry reading this story about.......

someone ought to start a new company, hire all these unfortunate, but talented people and start making Maemo/MeeGo/Mer/Nemo/whatever phones.
The world is overflowing with Apple and Google phones....

Thumbs up Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Thank you CSSU-team for another excellent upgrade for our beloved N900.

Upgrading through HAM went flawlessly.

Really looking forward to using the updated Modest. The constant crashes were...

Re: N9 hits FCC???

At one time there were rumors that the N9 had been cancelled, so hopefully they ditched the 2009/2010 internal HW and updated it to current standards and kept the slick casing/external HW. That...

Exclamation Re: Maemo Plzz Create Hd Games For Nokia N900

Nokia may have abondoned the N900, but take a look at the CSSU to get an idea, what the community is capable of. Rather impressive!

Learn to read! Nokia didn't sell Qt. They outsourced the support...

Re: N950 with MeeGo this year, but who trusts Nokia anymore?

True! That's a very valid concern. Coupled with the growing concern about how much support a Nokia MeeGo device would get, buying it could involve quite a risk.

However, to me MeeGo looks like a...

Re: N950 with MeeGo this year, but who trusts Nokia anymore?

Think about this for a second:

If we don't buy the N950, we'll only prove Flop right. We need to support MeeGo and prove that Flop is wrong, so that he'll be forced to step down as CEO.

Re: Technology Preview: MADDE

Thanks for requesting it.

Since I use Gentoo and not Ubuntu, I use a Gentoo packaged version of the Creator, so I installed MADDE separately. I'd rather not have to install another copy of the...

Re: PR 1.2.5 and ovi suite?

Re: N900 motherboard version, please help me out!

I didn't install HealthCheck, since 20+ MB for a diagnostic app with many dependencies is a bit over the top for me.
I did however get the requested info from /proc/cpuinfo and...

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.3) and its release date

@sygys:
The bugjar contains links to bugs that are fixed internally at Nokia. These bugfixes are not released yet, hence you still experience them. Since Nokia don't do rolling/incremental updates,...

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.3) and its release date

@Maxximuxcool:
If lack of customer support is what drives you away from Nokia, then stay clear of Samsung as well. Do a quick google search on the number of official updates for the Samsung Galaxy...

Re: Samsung Captivate - Samsung is OPEN-SOURCING their drivers and other code!

I would recommend checking up on Samsungs Android history before getting too excited...
The way they handled updates for their very first Android phone (the Samsung Galaxy i7500) was disasterous....

Re: Best playable RPG/Adventure game for N900

How about one (or all) of the GemRB engine games (Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate 1+2, Icewind Dale and PlaneScape IIRC)? You probably need to have the actual game disc to legally be able to play...

If you buy a WP7 phone, the "couple of hundred" you might loose when selling your N900 is absolutely nothing compared to the features, speed and stability, not to mention the openess, you also...

I don't know if this has been posted in this thread before, so apologies if this is old news.

Re: [HELP] Achieving best multitaskin performance

Hmmm... It doesn't quite explain much, as the blog post is almost 5 years old and the code in question was modified in 2007 (http://www.mail-archive.com/mm-commits@vger.kernel.org/msg27953.html). ;)...

Re: Games You Would Pay Big Money to See Ported.

I'd very much like to play Fallout 1 and 2 on my N900. So if anyone would make that happen, I'd be willing to donate some $$$.

Re: Dave999's Original, Legendary PR1.2 thread now devoted to Random Chatter and featuring drunk Laughingstok as Chuck Norris

That could explain the delay, then. If they're really using long "short", their "long" would be at least 8 bytes (dunno how many extra bytes "extremely" adds). I guess that's quite a challange...

Re: Dave999's Original, Legendary PR1.2 thread now devoted to Random Chatter and featuring drunk Laughingstok as Chuck Norris

First of all, I posted neither source nor executable files, nor did I post instructions on building it. So there are in fact 2 bugs, but neither are related to my program. The first bug is your...

Re: Meego resetting the step X/5 countdown?

My mistake. I misunderstood what you wrote. I thought, you meant to say, that Nokia designed both Qt and the UI layer.
